Wakeling was dire apart from that one purple patch. Amazed Peterborough even went for him to be honest
Wakeling was ok but certainly not the finished product for sure.

His sending off after about 45 secs cost us vs Stockport.

He looked like he could develop into a better player but he was not really good enough to command a starting place for us at that time IMO. I think we took the money and ran.

Hid departure was very very badly timed by the greedy owner who never fully replaced him with another adequate striker too.

Something something, pull over at the services to let him out so he could sign, something, something.

The fee we got was a miracle.

He seems to have progressed well since he left us, he looked very poor with us on loan but hes got 300+ games under his belt at every level including 28 caps for Jamaica too.

Wakeling was not dire.
Not dire but no more than a squad player at best. Also he was rarely played in his best position for us.

Posh chairman has “recommended” Wakeling to FGR. Apparently wants 80k + add ons. According to their paper.

Not sure how much we got for him but that feels a significant drop off in value. Didn’t realise he hadn’t started a game for Peterborough either.

Also mentioned they paid £20k for Joe Andrews from Chippenham. Wonder if he was on our radar, being just down the road.

Kind of sums up the Posh model in a single post, take punts you win some you lose some.

He only completed 12 games though, he was either coming on as a sub (9 times) or taken off.

He only got that much game time because our 4 other strikers were Adeloye, Jephcott, RHM and Shade right up until Austin came in January. We had such a poor quality attack that season.

Wakeling was not dire.

Agreed....I liked him. Sad to see him go...but not prolific by any means.

Not one game for Posh?? surprised at that....and now they want some money??

Wakeling showed promise up top with Jephcott. Good work rate, Very quick and raw. Caused defences issues for sure.

Our problem was, we fucked about playing him on the wing and even as a WING BACK under Morris. What on earth was that all about.

He could defo do a job as a strike partner in a league 2 side. I don't think he can play up top by himself or out wide though. So he's a bit limited.

I think you have to look at what's happened with him at Peterborough.

They have a track record of picking up young strikers & turning them into millions of pounds.
The fact they have pretty much given up on him makes me think that he's not got what it takes to be a championship player.
