In the spirit of 69 the one that stands out for me was when goalkeeping legend Peter Downsborough came back with Bradford around the 77/78 season and got a rousing reception from all sides of the ground.

Was at that game, stated beforehand that they may as well board up his goal as nothing would get over the line.  Nothing did. The away side were outplayed, but ran out 1:0 winners, if memory seves.  Downsborough was chaired off the pitch by the home supporters, along with raptuous applause.  Downsborough had done it again, but who cared if it was for the opposition, we appreciated his tenacity and his talent.

Peter is seen playing for the Town at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road in the film, "Robbery":

Nearly 50 years ago and can still remember that evening well.
Peter Downsborough had a story to tell that match and he told it loud and clear. Fantastic player and a true hero.

Looking back and thinking of the managers and players
that Swindon have had over the time i have supported the club and the opportunities to progress. F×cking hell, Swindon could not have f×cked it up more if they really tried.
Perhaps Ian Holloway is right about bad spirits and ghosts. Not just on the training ground.
All the previous owners including the current one have had chance after chance and so badly failed. The lost opportunities are mind blowing

Any success we’ve had over the years has never been built upon - it’s all short-termism.

The fact that the Town End and the Bank haven’t changed a jot since I first stood behind the bog wall in 1968 is a damning indictment of every single previous owner.
