It makes so little sense that it makes sense

This is a bit different, "Against Swindon Where Are You Now".  In the 22nd August, 2023 EFL Tropy tie beteen Swindon and Arsenal U21, Myles Lewis-Skelly started in midfield for the visitors.  Tonight, he starts for England.

What I remember of that game is that it should have been 2 : 8, but Arsenal couldn't finish and the Swindon gaolie did well................. a certain Lewis Ward.

M. Lewis-Skelly (20'), his first England goal!  Aged 18 years and 176 days, he is the youngest player in history to score on his senior England debut.

As much as it's a fuck you to L1 & L2 clubs, their involvement clearly has merit for the elite youngsters from the big clubs who get to play against men.  It's the wrong way to do it but the idea itself is actually quite sound.

It should probably be down to clubs to arrange friendly matches for U18 & U21's against teams that don't feature in reserve competitions (us).  Could even make a small amount of money if marketed correctly, free for kids for example.

Holloway has been vocal about having some kind of reserve team so we can give our talented youngsters more men's football hasn't he?

Oh absolutely not. The only speculation at STFC is by fans on socials.

Harry Mckirdy with a goal against former club Carlisle, I wonder if anyone threw a half eaten burger at him this time? Hmmm

Not that I am aware of, he did manage to get into rows with various Carlisle fans in the crowd, got booked for his celebration when he scored, substituted early and in some parts  (both fans and Mark Hughes to a degree) was credited by giving the Carlisle crowd and players the impetus to go on and get the win.
