I own a satchel, does that count?

I've read many a post recently saying things like 'we'll be bringing in only 4 new players in the summer' (or similar)

Have there been any actual quotes from people that matter to confirm this - Fitton, Wilson, Watkins?

This is an honest question and not a dig - as I can't remember who has said what - and people seem to be hanging on to this as gospel.

I agree with Melksham, we may well be kicking around the middle of the table with the guys we have currently plus a couple of extras.  Melksham takes this as being a bad thing, but I think it will be a better season than the last 2 were generally.  Healthy mid table is ok for me next season, at worst it gives a posibility of play offs for a good 30+ games of the season and come the January window their might be an opportunity to rethink.

I wonder if Huddersfield can sustain spending what they did in January every transfer window without success?  I remember a few people holding them up as an example of what we should be doing (splashing cash) in January after they got a couple of wins.  As I remember it, they never really looked likely to feature in the play offs though.

I remember thinking that towards the end of last season Rob. Pilkington has undoubted quality for this division but he has less assists than McNamee too. I think Huddersfield were over-hyped last season but can see them doing well next term.

What sort of handbag do you have?

So what becomes of you Mike Rose?
When they've finally stripped you of
The handbags and the gladrags
That your poor old Grandad had to sweat to buy you

It has lots of sharp buckles that could do some serious damage....

The County Ground turnstile stewards check IN the bag for knives, but little do they realise that good old satch' is a deadly, deadly weapon in itself. Surely all the clotted blood in the strappings is a giveaway?

I can't really see how people can speculate on how we will do next season until they see the calibre of players we bring in for next season, I think from what I have heard there may be a surprise or 2 of the offing with players coming in we would not usually expect to attract.

Until players start to arrive then we don't really know the make up of the team, we may sign players that are viewed as really good and are the difference between mid table and play-off's - time will tell.

Thankyou for telling me what i'm thinking RobT. I actually don't think mid-table is a bad thing at all. Nor did I suggest we should try and buy our way to success like Huddersfield. Mid-table would be an improvement. It's just not going to be very exciting unless we can keep within touching distance of the play-offs. Which in my opinion is not much chance at all. I hope i'm proved wrong.

Has anyone else come up with some lyrics for our prospective new full back? Here's another for our future full back duo (note it may not be factually correct but it might make JFW do a little wee):

Rosie and Kev
Rosie and Kev
Crossing the ball every game
Rosie and Kev
Rosie and Kev
And Paynter puts them in.

More likely to dehydrate her, that is, and if you don't like my opinion I've got a bodybag ready and waiting ...
