Some people have mentioned about talking about in contract players, we did the same thing when Cox was at Reading to be fair.

Plus its a bit different when our chairman and manager have pretty much said "let bidding commence, do I hear £2 million?" as opposed to "he is under contract and going nowhere". I don't see how it can be "tapping up" when we've been pretty much advertising him for the last few weeks.

Be surprised if a quick deal is done, if Leicester have made a bid it would be leaked to the media to let all the other clubs know so they'd get involved. Unless it is a stupid offer (£2.5 million plus) to get it signed and sealed quick.

Looking at the Leicester forum they are saying about Fryatt going if we get Cox, Would love a half money/half swap deal if possible, would certainly help us with the goals we will miss. Dont see it though at Fryatt only just signed a new contract at Leicester.

Looking at the Leicester squad and being realistic about who we could include in a cash plus player

deal,i'd be very interested in getting Max Gradel.Remember when he was on a season loan at

Bournemouth? Looked quality, good pace, goes past players with ease and can play on either wing.

According to BBC Wilts we have rejected 2 bids for Cox, believed to be from Leicester and Celtic.

Celtic and Rangers have a habit in Scotland of continually undepaying Scottish clubs and buying their best talent for well under their value. I wouldn't be surprised if they bid 300k for Coxy.

I don't think they'd bid that low! Didn't we already turn down a £500K bid from Huddersfield?

I wouldn't be surprised. This is the Old Firm we are talking about, tighter than a nun's craic.

I have no doubts that Swindon will be criticised for their valuation of Simon Cox - But why shouldn't we try and get what we want?

I hate to keep using this as an example but Bristol City got so desperate after pulling the plug on that Emad Motaeb deal they went and spent £2million on Nicky Maynard. Maynard scored 37 in 59 for a hardly amazing Crewe Alexandra outfit.

People outside of the STFC bubble are saying that Cox has only had one season, but I thought he looked good and scored goals for us in 2007/08 too! Had he not returned to Reading for a while he probably would have scored more.

NM's 1st Regular Campaign - 16 goals in 31 league appearances
SC's 1st Regular Campaign - 16 goals in 31 league appearances
NM's 2nd Regular Campaign - 15 goals in 27 league appearances
SC's 2nd Regular Campaign - 29 goals in 45 league appearances

Maynard's goalscoring ratio is good considering he missed a lot of games - but Cox has more games, more goals. We must use such examples to justify valuations... Saying that 29 goals speaks for itself.

I can almost guarentee that once the season is fully over better bids will come in.

But at the end of the proverbial, we don't have to sell him.

yeah, but they also have a habit of paying through the nose for players based in england. Loovens and Lafferty for example

Are you implying we should try and get Fryatt, cos that's how it sounds? If that is what you're saying it's easily the most monumentally stupid thing I've ever read on here. If not I apologise.

Nah, I keep telling the kids, £2.5m, or £1.5m and Fryatt...it's funny to watch their reactions.
