I wish we could sniff around a few 'still under contract players' rather than rely on freebies and out-of-contractors...

I'm not saying this just to open a debate along the lines of 'well Arch, we simply don't have the cash' and 'we must spend prudently Arch' blah blah blah.....

I'm saying it because it'll make me feel like we're the big boys punching the smaller, weaker kids in the playground... what goes on in my mind eh?

And he can't be officially signed until the transfer window opens.

Yes, but we'd all know a deal was done - the club can look to replace him and Reading can cheer themselves up with a lovely % Smiley

Some people have mentioned about talking about in contract players, we did the same thing when Cox was at Reading to be fair. No idea where COx will end up, Leicester City may or may not appeal to him. Cox is the kind of player you can build a team around, are Leicester that good that Cox can slip right in and help take them that next step? Swansea IMO alongside Scotland would be an awesome move for him, Not that they are in the race, but they are a team that could really benefit from Cox and reach the playoffs next season assuming they dont get 2nd season syndrome.

Apparently the news article said "Leicester City HOPE to announce the unveiling of Simon Cox in the new few days after tabeling a bid for the highly rated Swindon Town striker who was joint top goalscorer in League One last season".... So nowhere near the finished article which we suspected.

Thanks. Martinez has Swansea playing good along the ground football. Would suit Cox's style to a tee IMO. They have a very good side there and Cox could be that other bit of the puzzle. Jason Scotland, a good goalscorer but does little else. Cox would add that bit of spark up front for them.

Can they afford the asking fee for Cox though, cos the price must be creeping up with every interested party.

I would be suprised if he went there...also think that the club would have announced it if a proper bid had been tabled..alot of clubs are interested so Town would be mad to accept the first decent offer...i was told that Palace were in for him and Warnock has said he wants three new strikers.

True, however if this report is true, Leicester may think get in early with a silly 2m-2.5m bid, seal the deal now before the money gets daft.

Looking at the Leicester forum they are saying about Fryatt going if we get Cox, Would love a half money/half swap deal if possible, would certainly help us with the goals we will miss. Dont see it though at Fryatt only just signed a new contract at Leicester.

Are you implying we should try and get Fryatt, cos that's how it sounds? If that is what you're saying it's easily the most monumentally stupid thing I've ever read on here. If not I apologise.
