Given the turbulence at the club in recent times having, at least, a little continuity is no bad thing.
Agreed.

Byrne is a youth coach, it would be brilliant to see him overseeing that again. His successes at Swindon has been regarding youth.

Adver reports that he will have a new role overseeing youth development but he's on hols at the moment so they can't tell him.
Perhaps some role in charge of youth and overall responsibility for all age groups - but wasn't Jeremy Newton give some sort of role along those lines when he came over from center of exel ?

I wonder where the story started, was it Tranmere? I'm guessing something got fucked up somewhere and it got in the press before they had actually finished the deal and sorted everything out. Still, there is no suggestion Byrne will be kicked out - he might even prefer the new role (and be aware of it) for all we know.

Of course its true.
It's (probably) true the Shirtliff's coming in but the Advertiser suggests that it's unknown to Byrne - which could well be a big ol' fabrication. Tranmere didn't need to name names - I'm sure this has made it quite bumpy.
