I still remain optimistic about the future of STFC. A solvent club, decent owners and a reasonable fan base. Most things off the pitch are better than they've been for years. On the pitch we've had a pile of shite managed by an even bigger pile of shite. As much as Wilson got it right against Scunthorpe, he got it wrong against Harleppol but generally I'm more confident with him than Malpas / Byrne. We've got some decent younsters lined up and where the older experienced pros have failed I see no harm in throwing in a wildcard like Macklin. I think this is going to the wire and its certainly squeky bum time but regardless of division next year, I'm more confient than I've been for years. Yes, we need to remove a load of festering, bottling, no marks but I'm sure we will. I think in the next 2 or 3 seasons solvency will be a godsend while others fall.

If we can get decent money for Cox then the recession can work to our advantage, alot of clubs will see a massive shortfall in income and will be desperate to off load their big wage players and will be in no position to turn down offers for their better players.

Today, we were not one goal worse than them. they rarely put us under as much pressure as we gave them, although the sending off was clearly the turning point. someone has said we played with 4 at the back against 10 men, this is wrong, smith stayed as far up field as he could, probably to help kanu who was nackerd and should have come off instead of paynter, ot of teh team billy was the one more likely to score, although we shuld have had a few with cox's efforts and runs anyway, and a penalty that wasnt given - oh and i tihnk most people at prenton park have the same view that cox could've carried on to score instead of falling to the floor when there bloke was sent off. non of our players were outstanding, however kanyuka nd timlin in the middle of the park were dreadful firsthalf, and timlin was just as useless in the second. we had enough chances to score and didnt, our throwins are awful and waste alot of time, mcnamee should start matches and timlin needs to give way for easton. we need to learn to shoot out of the 18 yard box, enough times today we have men in the box for a rebound but no-one would shoot. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Arriba - I can see what yuo're saying but I think in the fullness of time just paying the bills will be seen as fairly inspired as the credit crunch really hits and more and more clubs really find themselves in the shit.

Pook in .. wins Pook out .. defeats
Simple solution .. Bring Back Pook!!
Seriously tho our midfield is very poor and Danny has done nothing about it .. we need a good loan player in there ...

we dont need a loan player in there,we've plenty of options for central midfield, wilson is just reluctant to use them. easton mcgovern pook allen nalis kanyuka can all do the job we need, they just have different effects. its about time the timlin kanyuka partnership is removed, kanyuka's passing is woeful at times, but he wins the ball in the park. timlin is either on/off today he was off, amankwaah on the right wing hasnt been the most useful position for him,id like to see smith and amankwaah switch see what the outcome is. we need to try something new.

I'm with Chalky. Something's not right at the moment, but I my confidence in the board and the manager remains.
We're shedding points everywhere, even in the games we play well in...and that's very often the hallmark of a side heading for the drop. I still think we can stay up, but it's going to be very close. As I think I said before, the prospect of being sent down by Rovers is making me feel unwell. We need a decent run and sooner rather than later. If ever there was a 'must win' game, it's the next one.

We should have won at Leicester with this team.
The problem with saying 'easton mcgovern pook allen nalis kanyuka' is they cant all play at once.
The team has been changed and changed since the start of the season. Like there is some magic combination.
They are all average players. The key is hard work and determination.

Fatbury, let it go! If Pook finds a league outfit once he's released this summer - I'd be very suprised. What's going on with Easton?

Spot on Chalkie! Even though the league is looking depressing, it is down to last Tuesday nights result rather than todays. We would never expect to get much from Tranmere away normally, so I don't think the level of depression on here is justified today tbh. Lose again on Tuesday and I expect to see people swinging from trees by the time I get home, but the reaction to a loss away to Tranmere is a bit over the top in my opinion. Yes I know we are in the shit but lets at least get today result into perspective.

Didn't go today so can't and won't comment on the game. Result wise it's hardly a surprise. Tranny are going well and unbeaten in 11 now at home. It's games like Tuesday night we have to worry about. That's a massive game.
