I wasnt there today so cant comment on his performance but I have a feeling its probably written into his contract that he has to start.

On current form our best winger is probably big bloody kev!!!

Until he has to cross. He took the 'copy Kanu' instructions too literally Smiley

Worse case scenario obviously is Div II next season, but not financial Armageddon.

How many teams in the lower leagues are going to be in a position to sign decent players?  Players that wouldn't go near Div II in previous years are going to be looking for clubs.  This is not going to be Div II as we have known it.

There is going to be a massive rebuild whether we stay up or go down.  Going down relatively may not be such a disaster with a whole bunch of clubs ready to go into administration, with Darlington being the latest.

I dunno, I thought his crosses were pretty good tuesday night.

It looked to me like if a goal was going to come from anywhere it would come from Big Kev getting behind fatboy and crossing it...

I didnt see Tuesdays game but if he was subbed then as well then that is the 3rd game on the trot

Same sub, Peacock for Paynter (61 mins). Perhaps Wilson doesn't think he can last the full 90.

There was just the one where he sort of blasted it across after getting in behind fatboy. Looked like a really  bad shot than a bad cross. I agree he looked dangerous Tuesday.

Third striker after Paynter:

Peacock (worn out)

Sturrock (not a natural goal scorer)

Ben Joyce (seems to have been forgotten about)

The Psychotic Frenchman (not ready yet, apparently)

Maybe not financially, but I am not so sure many fans would stomach another year in div 4 so soon after the last one.

More importantly it's easy to get stuck in a league, even when you 'should' go up.

It would be absolute crap to go down, obviously, but the landscape is different.  A few points lost from some other teams aside from Cheltenham due to financial irregularities might be helpful.  For next season, it is going to be a buyer's market for, so being in Div II is not going to be quite the same as previous seasons.

If we dont go down this season then we probably will next season.

We'll have a huge turn over in the summer, Cox will be sold - that money will go towards covering our losses.

Due to the credit crunch season ticket sales will be well down and so will the playing budget from this season.

hope I'm wrong but if we do stay up and when Cox goes we need to replace him because without his goals we'd be all but down i expect

Relegation would be a disaster. I don't even want to think about it! If we stay up Wilson will start from scratch so our fate could go either way.

...not even Town vs. Oxford would excite me.

our minted board should be plugging those holes with their money.why buy a club if only to watch it struggle?
treat it as a hobby and throw some money at it.just like fans do

WE've had a reasonable budget this season IMHO. We bought the likes of Casal and pay the wages to a large squad of sub-standard players..

I don't think our board are as minted as people think, not in disposable fluid cash. Just an opinion.

Still, regardless, if they hadn't bought us we'd be toast by now.

Yes it's going to be really tough, it already is for most people.  Yes you are probably absolutely correct, I expect Cox to be gone in the summer merely to balance the books.

The key is to back Wilson come what may, and exploit the tough economy to get the best possible team together.  The Town have had two major difficulties in recent years, players don't want to join a club that don't play wages on time, and don't want to join a Div. II club unless it is clearly on the up.  With better finances and Wilson in charge, the Town would be a good bet not to be in Div II too long, especially as many Div 1 and Div II teams are going to be in real trouble financially, and the better players will not want to join them.  Irrespective of Div I or Div II, Cox will be gone and a anything less than a rebuild is going to be necessary.
