Baring in mind this fella is third in line to the throne, he really should know better than to call people "rag heads" or "paki's".  I think George Galloway summed it up well, if you don't realise the offence that "paki" can cause, and to be fair I have no idea, then you probably haven't been called it in a vicious way.  It's an abbrevation, but the way the term has been used in recent years I think we all know that it's not acceptable really.

So I believe he shouldn't have said, and that he should apologise (which he has already).  What I really don't understand is the way some reports have stated "in another prank he was seen to be offensive towards the queen".  Just because he said (at the end of a pretend phone call) "Yeah yeah God save you, bye..." what's so offensive about that?

Let's be honest the blokes been a bit of a tool.

I don't think that he's an out and out racist, but you'd think he'd be more careful about what he says on camera. Even if it is a private video, in his position he should realise that footage like that is going to be damaging and is almost inevitably going to find its way into the public domain.

However, the bloke was about 20 when he filmed it and which of us wasn't a bit of an arse at that age? Bearing in mind that he clearly isn't that bright (two A level's at grades B and D after the most expensive education money can buy is hardly an indication of a particularly profound thinker) and that every other piece of footage I've seen of the man shows him interacting with people of all races in a pretty relaxed and open manner (I'm pretty sure he's had command of a Gurkha platoon at one stage) and I'd say it's just a bit unfortunate.

The only bit of the footage that should be a bit of a concern is the "*racial hatred*" remark. I know that using language that depersonalises the enemy, indeed dehumanises them is a fairly natural thing to do in situations of conflict. If you are going to have to shoot someone, or order a few tonnes of ordanance down on their heads it's a damned sight easier to do if you're not thinking of them as Ahmed who's got three kids at home.

But the trouble in this particular little war we've got ourselves mixed up in is that the "ragheads" aren't just limited to the role of enemy here, they're also the civilian population the allied forces are supposed to be protecting, and make up a proportion of those allied forces themselves.

A bit unfortunate and a bit of a gaffe, which he seems to have realised.

I did like the "yeah yeah God save you " line though.

To me it sums up what our forces are all about,old traditions,old language,bullying,old equipment and as usual old men calling the shots in there safe worlds...abit like WW1 a hundred years on...Harry is saying words that are commonly used in our forces,is it racist?....its an individual decision,i wouldnt want any of my family joining our forces in todays climate.

End of the day there was no malice in my opinion . I find it hard to believe that anybody who has a mate of a different race has not had a laugh with them and vice versa.
