Either way, we were obvious best under Sturrock when we had him, Summerfield, Blackley, Byrne, Williams (sort of) & Granville, thats 6!!

Byrne should be gone for the sin of being sent off at the CG for bitch slapping Shaun Close....all this shit about loving the club...he's only been here 5 minutes. Loves his wad more like.

There is room for a small amount of sentiment in football....like Maurice Owen, who when finished playing had some sort of job at CG until he retired...wages clerk, groundsman, coach etc.  Maurice though had fought Johnny Jap Foreigner in the jungles of Burma before giving nearly 20 years of playing in crap Town sides of the 50's before sealing a promo in his final season 62/63.

Look at a photo of the squad that won the Anglo Italian Cup amongst the concrete detritus of Napoli...who's got the biggest smile...Maurice Owen that's who, because he did love the club.

'ark at he.

Bad day at the office Reg.

Byrne can have a liking for the club after 2 years, of course he can. Times have changed since the days of Maurice Owen and his dedication is up there with only a couple of others... with complete respect to yourself Reg, I can't help but think that it's an unfair comparison.

Wish I had the time mate...I'd rather Byrne came out with something like I get 2.5% of all transfers over 500K on any player I scout or develop...good for the club and good for me.

I jest reginald. Agree fwiw. Easy for people to mix up love of the game with love of a club

But we don't want anyone with any love for the club because of the "no non-players" philosophy that dominates Swindon forums Cheesy

I'm not taking it as a dig... but if you want to  Kiss and make up see Si Pie as he does tongues.

I don't mind Byrne staying as he seems to have an eye for a young player...just annoys me, all this love the club stuff.

Byrne has been loyal, could have left with Sturrock but stuck with it, i think his loyalty deserves some sort of reward but if it say is the difference between a good manager coming and a great manager coming then....

Was he offered a job with Plymouth when Sturrock left, if he was then fair enough but he has only been here 2 years and I don't really see that as loyal. Has he really been offered any other half decent jobs anywhre to test his 'loyalty'? Again if so fair enough.  People like Dick Mackay who have been here years fall into the bracket of loyal....

If he does remain then as others have mentioned there is still a need for a few new coaches and a decent assistant manager to the new man. I would definately get rid of Granville and Williams at the very least as I fail to see what they offer to the club.
