What would be everyones starting XI for the trip to Crewe?
--------------Brezovan---------------- ----J.Smith----Aljofree----Ifil----Kennedy ----------------Timlin------------------ ----McGovern----------------McNamee ----------------Paynter---------------- -----------Cox----------Corr (if fit)---- Pahhh, lets attack the bastards. If we do the usual hoof, Corr will win the majority of balls. Paynter and Cox can retain their link-up play. If Macca and McGovern stay on the wings and deliver decent crosses, we would have more threat in the air with Barry there. Timlin as the holding midfielder, who could make sure Macca and JP see a lot of the ball. Same back four as yesterday, 'cause I thought they were reasonably solid until the last 15mins. And we need consistency there. I'd like Brez back in goal though. And let him have a long run of games, I just seem to feel a tad more confident with him there, and he would give the ball to the full backs more often the Phil does.

Midfield looks a bit lightweight for an away game, but we'd probably score a few....

If only he were ever fit, then yes, but as that's only likely to happen just after hell freezes over then it's going to be Paynter to play every game. What pisses me off about Billy and his fan club, is that we seem to be free to slag off Aljofree, Pook, Peacock and everyone else, but unless we see just how great Paynter is we're all blind & stupid. The bloke's attitude is shit, he's the first on the pitch to start pointing fingers when anything goes wrong with everyone else. I'd just like to see him concentrate on doing his job right, and show some fight, when things aren't going his way. Oh, and by the way, I saw Berniman's header too, and the only thing wrong with it was that he header it to a Carlisle player (although I guess that should be forgiven as it was a carlisle throw in) I've also defended Peacock, Pook and Aljofree and I'll continue to defend Paynter, right now we would be worse off without him and probably after Cox he has been our best player this season!!
I'm fucking impressed you wrote that sequence of events down for me. It all fits neatly together now and fully justifies why our defence got rearranged and promptly conceeded yet another late fucking goal.
As you say, I'm obviously a complete retard for suggesting otherwise.
Sorry for missing the fact that our physio is incapable of treating a pro footballer for the well known killer-injury that is muscle cramp, you fucking mong.
Have you ever had cramp, how the fuck do you treat cramp and make it go away? In that situation it doesnt pass you cant run it off. I've had cramp (who hasnt) when playing football and when running a marathon. Sure I kept going but I was barely able to move. How do you suggest a young players get rid of cramp whilst playing football? Perhaps the retard comment was a little too kind. As for Crewe Brezovan Smith Ifil Aljofree Kennedy JPM Peacock Timlin McNamee Paynter Cox Lloyd Macklin on the bench!!!!

I would have Morrison ahead of Aljofree and Ifill.

I don't see them being carted off en mass. They're generally treated by the physio, then just get on with the game.

In fairness, cramp effects people in different ways. For instance, some people can easily run/stretch it off, whereas with others, it can feel like a strain and be quiet painful for sometime, therefore affecting a players' performance/ability to run. A good ol' sports massage is then required

Have I missed something in that link? Point 1 of the treatement section says 1. Stop the activity that triggered the cramp in the first place?

Have I missed something in that link? Point 1 of the treatement section says 1. Stop the activity that triggered the cramp in the first place? You did ask.... One of the most useful things you can do to help prevent muscle cramps and spasms is to work on improving your overall general health and fitness. Improving your cardiovascular fitness will improve the delivery of blood to your muscles, which will ensure that they have adequate amounts of oxygen and nutrients to function properly.
Another key activity that will help to prevent cramps and spasms is stretching. Keeping your muscles loose and flexible will help to stop them from tightening up and cramping. Be sure to stretch the muscles groups that are most prone to cramping both before and after exercise or strenuous physical activity.
Stretching is one of the most under-utilized techniques for improving athletic performance and getting rid of those annoying sports injuries. Don't make the mistake of thinking that something as simple as stretching won't be effective.

If he isn't doing fitness work or stretching then the coaching really is dire.
As for pulling him off the pitch if he did get cramp, then seems to be the right choice. I'd imagine pitches make it even harder work at this time of year.

Yeah, fair enough, Si. I just don't ever remember a town player coming off the pitch permanently with cramp. Seems a bit of a limp excuse, that's all.

for the record i wasn't bashing peacock.i like him and know exactly what he brings to the team, but he is overated.he wasn't mom yesterday(cox was easily) and i didn't think he played that well.kavannah showed up the flaws in both our centre mids.pook was dire.maybe saying peacock was barely better than him was a bit harsh mind.dont know why jpm hasn't been praised much for yesterdays match.his deliverys were excellent and he rarely gave the ball away(peacock and pook both did) also how can paynter get slated? he is by far our second best player this season.
i love reading delta's posts.his language and cutting comments make me laugh out loud (to the annoyance of the mrs and kids)

Perhaps Kennedy should do a warm up and some stretching before the game next week then.

This is the best day after the match matchday thread ever! It was boring until today and now there are allsorts going. Arguements about cramp, locations, boxing and the odd players chucked in to boot! Mind you, the only statements that have been fact so far have been from Batch and Posh Red, i.e. My header was indeed a quality cushioned header that was controlled yet acurate! But Posh you are right, maybe I should have bullet headered it at him since he was wearing a Aquafresh kit! I'm still awaiting the backlash I am bound to get from The Flash, unless he realises that his chain being yanked isn't the worse thing that can happen.

Cramp or no cramp, substitutions or no substitutions, we'd have still found a way to fuck it up anyway. We're a crap side who have the worst self destruct button I've seen in over 30 years. I'm now actually swinging to the wholesale changes view - although we haven't got the funds to do it. Fucking up is just too systematic to be bad luck all the time. Maybe its time to pitcy more of the youngsters in - they can't be any worse than our so called experienced pros whose only great ability seems to be fucking thnigs up.
