Can't really knock Ward til he has had a chance. Yes Carlisle were rubbish lately but they had a few injuries. He took over the team last year and managed to maintain their good form to get to the playoffs. I also believe he had a few players sold on him like Westwood. Westwood kept them in quite a few games, If he was good up there similarily Brezovan and Smith can be fixed here and do the job that Westwood effectively did at Carlisle.

I was never on anyone's back for not being excited about it because god knows I wasn't. I was on peoples back because they never gave him a chance. Ward will get my full support if he comes, but I just think it'll be a silly decision considering he's taken Carlisle from promotion contenders to relegation candidates....

Exactly, at this stage we have a list of potential managers.  From which John Ward would not be the man I'd go for.  If he does come here then I'll give him the support he deserves, but at this specific moment in time the thought of JW being announced as our new manager doesn't get me too excited.

Should ward come here i'll give him my full backing. And to be fair he has done very well in the past - Keeping cheltenham up so many times is a brilliant acheivment, and city fans seem to rate him. The fact he cocked up automatic promotion for carlisle last season and seen them massively nosedive this season is a concern

Nor me, but he is certainly capable of doing a good job. I think he's likely to be one that would be here longer term as well which would appeal to Fitton if you go by his interview on the BBC site today.

It's all speculation though, we've still got the whole interviewing proccess to come yet. Fitton has been very clear on what he wants and I'm sure he won't rush this. Whoever we get in will have obviously ticked all the boxes and deserves the full support of the fans. I just hope this one doesn't come in and talk about the playoffs, one of Malpas' huge downfalls last season. We need to steady the ship and ready ourselves for next season. If we can get something this season then great, but we've got some catching up to do.

What style of football does Ward try to get his teams to play?  Can't say I've ever taken an interest in his managerial career so far, and he's not a manager who's record is jumping out at me.

When i saw Carlisle in televised games last season they did seem like a side who tried to get it down and knock it about instead of awful route one stuff.

I think we can attract better names than Ward though - a journeyman football manager

We are an attractive proposition these days

Lets just hope Everard Cock (real person, honest) is looking for a managerial job if we're really interested in appointing just a 'name'

Bring in Ryan Giggs ala Lou Macari, get the town buzzing, a manager of international repute who would demand respect and hard work of his players Wink

If he wanted it, which I doubt he does I would give the job to Gus Poyet
