the digby/taylor/bodin thing I went to on Friday (like a few others probably, but cant be arsed scrolling through) - after speaking with Digby, he seemed to think that Bodin will probably be involved with the 1st team alongside......holloway....like others, I'd be happy with him, but like someone else posted, an announcement like this inevitably brings an anti climax announcement......i'm praying to the lord above it is not John Ward....and I hope from a business sense point of view AF will see this and make an appointment that will guarantee more bums on seats and with holloway's 'infectious personality' (nicked from Digby talking about his time with Ollie at QPR) this would be more likely to happen under ollie rather than ward. I'm not naive enough to think that an infectious personality alone brings success on the pitch, but reckon he'll command a lot more respect from the players that someone like ward......in my humble opinion

Apparently Ward was at the Mem on friday night. Dunno if its true but with us up to play them next might explain why alot of people who saw im there may have put money on him and thus reduced his odds to favourite.

I'm not too bothered who it is, out of the 'realistic' candidates mentioned. Either way, when an appointment is made I'll say 'Right, lets see what he can do then'. If it is John Ward, then I'll get behind him like I would Holloway, Dowie or (my personal choice but who I realise is unlikely) Richard Money - and like I did for Maurice, Sturrock, Wise, et al.

admire your commitment, but 10 months down the line, I don't fancy being in the same boat as we were with MM and excuse my negativity but this it likely if it is to be ward.....once an appointment is made, I'm hoping the phrase 'i hope he can prove me wrong' isn't continually being posted

Agree Jimbob...the club has had a massive kick up the ass of the pitch...it needs one on it now,we dont want a pipe and slippers merchant like MM or Ward,Ward had everything going for him at Carlisle and showed he didnt have it.
Holloway for me...

we need a manager we can identify with,a man with carisma,a proven track record and someone who isn,t a cheap option.our players need leading ,with a bit of organisation we have the nucleous of a good competing and quite skillful side and with a bit of sucess the fans will respond, great noise yesterday.Could be even better with a full town end,John ward no thankyou

John Ward would be a good solid appointment in my book. Probably about our level which, as Reg says, means he won't be off at the first sight of a few championship chequebooks. Exactly what Fitton said in that interview when he referred to 'stepping stones'.

Firstly the cheap option would be Byrne...as has been argued elsewhere, being entertaining on the radio etc doesn't make you a good manager....Bob Paisley is upthere in the top 4 or 5 all time English football managers and Leefer he did quite literally wear slippers.

If Ward gets some results and his record shows he can, the fans wont care about his quiet personality....last season Donny got out of this league under Sean O'Driscoll, playing good football.  O'Driscoll is very low key, almost to the point of invisibilty.

Ward for me would be a sort of modern day Fred Ford....managed both Bristhole clubs.

Who can forget Ford in Naples...saying I've fought these buggers in a  war, before taking the Anglo Italian Cup to show the Curva Nord as the Ultras ripped up lumps of concrete and showered them down.

That is the thing it is about thinking about now and to the future, at least with Holloway, Boothroyd, Dowie they have had plenty of experience with teams at a higher level so knows what it requires and what type of players mentality etc to stay up there and then push on, I'd be a bit concerned that most of Ward's success and experience has been only at this level, I think we took a risk when we appointed Malpas the next appointment has to be right we need a manager at the helm that can get sucess and stay to build on it preferably
