Anyway, if you phoned V Cars and you got an unlicensed cabbie, I should expect they would get a rather large fine for doing so. Which is really the point of the story, we're not talking about hailing a cab off the street.

Incidentally, I caught a black cab outside Tescos in the early hours once. When he dropped me at the bottom of my road I asked him how much I owed him. It was then he told me I had already paid and 'here is my special number if you ever get stuck for a cab' as he handed over a receipt with a mobile number on it.

Needless to say I got the hell out of there rather quick. I even took the trouble of walking away from my house until I was sure he'd driven out of my road, before pegging it back into my house. The moral of the story is, never hail a cab from outside Tesco.

I got in a taxi with a english driver who went on to slate the polish and how these illiterate non english speaking people are taking all the drivers jobs. I went through a phase of posting on the Daily Mail forum. I posted a story about immigrants receiving a christmas decoration allowance so that they could feel part of the festive celebrations. There was much wailing a gnashing of teeth. The moderator emailed me asking me for more info to back up the story. All this despite the government spokesman being called Mr P.Enis. I did another one about a bungalow getting a form of structural cancer and undergoing a kind of chemotherapy treatment that caused all its tiles to fall out. They'll believe any old shit.

I'm going to make two points only:

1. If you're getting into a cab at night on your own and you're a woman then either make sure you get a minicab that you've booked yourself over the phone or make sure you get a licenced black cab and check the fucking licence. That's the personal safety issue sorted as it cuts out any potential unlicenced illegal drivers that will have had no CRB checks, which is what JFW is hinting at when she talks about immigrant drivers). Beyond that your getting into just plain old racial prejudice I'm afraid. Try moving to a big city love and if you won't get into a cab unless the drivers white with an English accent you'll be getting the bus or walking a fuck of a lot.

2. Loads of people on here were dead keen to point out that the idea of "racial profiling" when it came to checks on people around potential terrorist threats wasn't racist it was just sensible. Similarly there's a good few of you who seemed to think that the increased use of stop and search procedures by police on young  black men was acceptable as "racial profiling" indicated that a lot of street crime was carried out by this group.

Well guess what? Paedophilia, abductions and rapes of young girls as an offence has got a racial and age profile as well. And it's middle aged white men. Exactly the sort of person that stupid bitch in Bristol wanted to drive her 14 yr old daughter home.

You guys need to cut JFW some slack.  The truth of the matter is SOME asians treat women with a little less respect/dignity than other, struggling for a word here that wont offend anyone, can't finf one, so here goes, other races.
There done it.  I'm well aware there is good and bad in all societys but some asians can be alittle curt when talking to women.
