It's slightly different with football, as with my job if I do something wrong then I get criticism as you say but if I do something right I don't get the whole office singing and chanting my name and asking for autographs.
Nor paid the same

I remember when I started going the players would get a huge cheer when their names were read out before kick-off. I know our players these days aren't the heroes we used to know and love, but even so... I agree, we should sing more player-specific songs...
Its because you cant even hear the teams being read out in the Don! Was watching MOTD the other night and the Arsenal guy just reads out the players number and first name and they crowd finished it off. Sounded cool, wouldnt work at the CG tohught. Number 1 - Peter - BOOOOOOO!

I hate that read out the first name and the crowd chant the surname, Germans started that didn't they? Embarrassing.
I wanna sing "Na na na na na na na na na na na Anthony McNamee, McNamee, Anthony McNamee!!!" to the toone "Give it up", think someone else said this before btw.

the arsenal thing sounds good.but yes it wouldn't work here at the moment. less embarrasing than clapping a shit team as they walk to the ground though.maybe we should roll out a red carpet, line up alongside it, and bow to the players as they walk by?

You forgot the rose petals arriba - how can they feel truly loved if we don't throw rose petals in their path as they shimmy onto the pitch?

I always cheer every player's name when the team is announced, and I boo the away team. If I could get my hands on some face paints then I would get my face done as well

After hearing about the pretty decent performance yesterday, and the abuse the team and management got from a certain group of "supporters" at the CG yesterday, I was wondering whether it'd be worth getting to the ground a little earlier than usual on Tuesday to give the lads a decent welcome, just to show them there are people 100% behind them and we're not all anger fuelled morons.
Not sure if it'd work but I'm getting quite concerned at the fact our own players probably don't have much time for the average Swindon Town fan these days. Which ain't helping matters.
If we did that we'd end up losing and Malpas and the players would probably come up with the excuse that they felt under pressure to repay the supporters for showing so much support. Blaming the support or lack of is absolute bollocks IMO and is just being used by many including some supporters as an excuse. You only have to look at reports over the last few months (the latest today about Wolves fans booing Keogh) to realise that it happens at all the other 92 league clubs. Our support is no better or worst it's just that we've had nothing to shout and sing about and how can you support a manager that both in your head and heart you zero belief in. It is impossible to back something that you think is wrong as your just lying to yourself. The support or lack of from our fans has little to nothing to do with anything really it's just an easy excuse.

I hate that read out the first name and the crowd chant the surname, Germans started that didn't they? Embarrassing. Yeah, they do...it's far too regimented. It's like Wembley playing We Are the Champions when a team wins. I would want to sing Swindon specific songs should we win at Wembley. (Although, I'd like the chance to be pissed off at some twat playing We are the champions to be honest).
