It wasn't just a tackle, it was GBH.

It was totally premeditated and IMO he deserves more of a ban than what Taylor got for breaking Eduardo's ankle.

Oh come on, it was a kick in the fucking shins. If that's GBH then me and all my mates ought to still be in prison from our primary school days, we all tackled like that. That was on tarmac too.

Yes it's a shit tackle but people don't half over-react.

Guthrie's intent was clearly there for all to see,as he had 2 goes at Fagan. On the 2nd occasion, when he
caught Fagan,he could also have caught his own teammate.Real red mist occasion,i can't see him getting
away with just a 3 match ban.

I concur.

But as long as someone thinks of the children it'll be fine.

... That broke the guys leg.

I know and understand what you're trying to say but if you did that in the streets you'd do time for it, or at the very least some community service!

So if he should get a season long ban, every player that reacts and hits out at a player with a punch, which is proper GBH, should get a life ban then?

I agree it was a bad frustration tackle, but if you are going to ban players for the season for things like this then football is on a slippery slope to becoming a non contact sport.

Eric Cantona, Ben Thatcher, Roy Keane, Julian Dicks, Alan Shearer, Steven Gerrard, Mark Hughes and Martin Keown should all be in prison now according to the punishment structure being talked about on here!

Fagan must have legs made of balsa wood to have his leg broken by that. The gay.  It really wasnt that bad. Obvious red card though.

As others have mentioned the tackle a birmingham player (nafti?)made on saturday was a million times worse, double footed and knee high.  Even the Leeds lads tackle was worse than Guthries and I didnt think it was that bad either.

It should be a minimum of two red cards, one for the attempted assault, and one for the kick that broke his leg.

String him up by his bollocks, shove a red hot poker up his arse and flog him until his body is a mass of cuts.

That'll teach him. (Or maybe I'm being too soft)

I missed MOTD on sat, anywhere online you can see the tackle? Heard it was bad but think a season ban etc would be far too far over the top imo
