People with a longer memory will remember Noel Reilly, former landlord of the Beehive, who sadly died at the weekend aged 62.  A well educated man, but an eccentric character, he held cultural evenings in a typical town boozer, even employing a russian philosopher!

Czech, Ronnie not Russian big difference....Reilly was a personal friend, spent a fine night on Friday reminiscing with a few old skool survivors of his regime...sad occasion, but still plenty of laughter.

Reilly's Christmas Day meal was legendary....he would put it on for mainly regulars, who I suppose, didn't have direct family,  or perhaps were stuck in Swindon, because of work etc, or even had relationships which had just gone tits up.

Then of course there was the Christmas tree....a tradition which I still love.

Early 90's is when his tenancy officially ended, but he stayed in the pub for maybe a further year or more as a "consultant".......
