My mate and I once push-started Nestor Lorenzo's tan coloured Ford Sierra in the Delta Tennis centre car park....

He didnt stop to say thanks, he simply stuck his thumb out of the window and shouted something incomprehensible whilst the car spluttered and kangaroo-ed its way across the car park.

Dead classy those South Americans.....

Ford Sierra?  Highlights the differences between international footballers wages then and now.

...and the fact that he was a World Cup Finalist a year or so before makes it that much more distant from todays footballer.

It had rust patches around the rear lights..... but I don't remember it being that old either, I do remember seeing hand-knitted style cushions on the parcel shelf - it was obviously a quality motor.

Are you accusing Nestor Lorenzo of car theft?

Of course not.....it could have been a friend's motor, that's all.

Maybe it was a mates 4D, it did seem an odd choice of car for an international footballer.

There was a swarthy looking non-english speaking dude with him, I think he was wearing a beige linen suit and espadrilles, or is my memory confusing stereotyping with real life??

I'm sure there was a bird in tow as well......

It was pissing down and pitch black, ideal car theft weather.... perhaps he was trying to make up for the short-fall in win-bonuses that coincided with his run in the team.

Why would Nestor's mate be playing tennis in a beige suit and espadrilles?

Are the tennis courts floodlit and undercover, seeing as it was pitch black and raining?  Smiley
