Desperation is about a mining town in Nevada (I think it's Nevada). There's some sort of demon thing which is killing everyone and loads of Chinese people who work the mine.
Oh yeah I forgot to say, I watched Chinatown the other day and thought it was actually rather good. Nicholson plays the part of Gittes perfectly.

It missed out a lot of that, I think mainly because he wanted to highlight his demise more than his rise. But I thought exactly the same. Fair play for him making money out of it, but like you said, the juicy bits of the story weren't really there. |
