Thing is we forget(myself included) that the chore of the team will consist of mainly british players anyway we just seem to be adding a few foreigners but even some of these have had experience over here.

Buckle's signings for Rovers seem a lot like my transfer policy on FM; purely for the fact that I've heard of them and they were once a bit good.

Hell, we thought Pericard and Prutton were good signings for League One and look where that ended us.

Hit the nail on the head.  A "name" is not necessarily a good signing - and an unknown is not, per se, unambitious.  At our level, unless you are a full-time scout, its always a case of wait and see for us fans.  I knew very little about Parkin, Cox, Ward or Austin before they came here.  I'd heard of Nalis...

i'd never heard of chris hay, george ndah, steve finney or peter thorne before we signed them and they turned into fan favourites pretty quickly

Great examples - thinking back to that time, I'm not sure I've ever seen a player so changed by an injury than Hay.  Superb before injury, a couple a flashes afterwards.  That was a real shame.

I think he spent a couple of unsuccessful years at Huddersfield and then went back to Scotland, I think with St Johnstone.

another unknown who turned out to be pretty good until the injury. i think chris hay did break his leg but i was only young then so cant remember exactly, it was an injury that took him out for half a season atleast.

matt o'halloran was another who had to quit football because of a broken leg seems we have had a few players who careers went downhill after injury during or just after they left us

I could well be, what was the injury that did in Hay? Cuervo was awesome!

(Keith) O'Halloran :p I remember that day in Dorchester, horrifying tackle and an horrific break. Cannot believe Elliot only got a yellow and he is still to this day (other than Beauchamp) the only play I truly despise.
