45 goals in one season shouldn't sniffed at.
Official Dover website states:
"Jim Parmenter rejected what he has described as a “joke bid” from Gillingham this morning for striker Adam Birchall"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/9532576.stmRecently turned down a bid from Newport, but there's an agreement that he can talk to FL clubs at a reasonable price. Seems like the kind of player we'd look at for sure.

The full report of the Dover website. Good to see that the feud continues! I bet their cup win over Gillingham last year felt good. JIM PARMENTER rejected what he has described as a “joke bid” from Gillingham this morning for striker Adam Birchall.
The Dover star last week had a transfer request turned down but was told he could leave if a sensible offer was agreed with a Football League club.
However, the figure emailed this morning – received after BBC Radio Kent had announced it – was several thousands of pounds LESS than the “insulting bid” from Conference club Newport County last week.
Jim said: “I’ve told Paul Scally to stop wasting my time. The figure is not only derisory, but he wanted to make the payments in two installments.
“Too be frank, it barely covers a taxi ride from Dover to Gillingham! It’s a joke bid and clearly a tactic to turn Adam’s head.
“If Mr Scally, however, really wants to sign Adam then he should come back to me with a much bigger bid – and not two tiny installments.
“This is nothing personal against Gillingham. We turned down a higher bid from a non-league side than the one they’ve come up with today.
“We are also disappointed that Gillingham have not only leaked their bid to BBC Radio Kent, but have done so before we have even received the actual offer. It’s very unprofessional and reflects badly on a club of Gillingham’s stature.”

Adam Birchall is an interesting one. Very good in the conference but a little hit and miss in the league.
Does have a good head on him and at the right club I think he could deliver. Sort of a Paynter player who has lost his way a little that could flourish under the right management and enviroment.
Reminds me a bit of Constable before he went to the scum. He had a poor record in league football with Walsall but good scoring record in the non leagues then they signed him and he's been pretty good for them. It is about finding the right club.

A Dover Athletic player instread of an Argie with Dutch top flight experience would be a significant change of direction! But as long as whoever comes in score a shit-load of goal then who cares.
