There was something in the Moonraker about us being under a transfer fee restriction (in article on Bycroft not signing). Presumably this is self-imposed rather than any EFL sanctions? Very pleased that Ripley has signed and to be honest not devastated about Bycroft leaving.

Lonwijk has played a good number of games in league 1 already.

I'd be a little surprised if Wolves would be happy to loan to a league 2 side? Unless we are looking to buy him, or arrange a loan with a permanent arrangement or something?

I saw that was a reply. I can’t compute it tbh. Played too much top end league one football and Huddersfield wanted him on a perm. Was Lonwijk a guess? Could it be someone else?

Alfie Pond made the most sense when I looked at Wolves U21 CB’s.

That's the one I initially thought of too. From the west country too.

That was when we signed Bycroft from the Saints, took over his contract. Like what we did with Drinan & Glatzel from memory.

Certainly makes more sense than Lonwijk. Cant say i know anything about his but just looking on wiki, you'd imagine Wolves will be aiming for a Championship loan or a sale.

He's not left yet. The statement reads like he may very well come crawling back to the offer of being back up to me.

I think it means he's rejected our offer. It would be a strange statement to release otherwise (imo)

Glad to have Ripley signed on.

I see Bycroft is exploring alternative options. Shame, some decent attributes- with a bit more experience & some decent coaching think he could be a decent keeper. Not been done any favours playing behind some not very good defenders and / or some very poor defensive tactics.
Agree with this 100%.

With good coaching he could well become a very solid keeper, he has made a few howlers but at this level many keepers do similar but I think playing behind an awful defence for so much of his time in the 1st team has not helped him or his progress.

A move to a club where he can get 1st team game time, probably at a league lower will do him good.

The comment about the restriction implied that we WERE under restrictions when Bycroft signed not that we currently are under any restriction.

I assume (based on timing) that he would happily stay if he was in with a chance of being first choice, which is clearly not happening with Ripley signed.

Oh yeah, he's been told he's #2.

Ripley doesn't move down here without at least starting as #1

Makes you (well me, at least) wonder how heavily contracts are incentivised with ‘appearances fees’ because quite frankly being #2 goal keeper seems like a decent number to me only beaten by the 3rd choice goal keeper who qualifies at home grown but never actually plays ever job

So, will we be signing another keeper or is Redman Evans going to get a chance?
