6 figure fee sounds reasonable but how much of it is up front/guaranteed (over instalment's) is another thing.

A lot of these youth player deals work more on performance based milestones than guaranteed cash although the nature of Ameens explosive start means we’d likely be able to command a greater guaranteed fee.

Wonder the same about Harley Hunts move. If these lads for whatever reason go on to not make the grade, what’s the minimum overall fees we’re getting?

And that’s without getting into any tribunal type deals if it was to fall that way. He’s not been here from QPR that long so how strong is our position? I suppose as he’s made a handful of senior appearances and we’ve offered him an allegedly decent terms contract that it improves our position.

Hunt went for 500k up front (potential to rise to 1.5M) which I remember Jamie Russell saying they paid instantly allowing us to bring in Cox, Butterworth etc on deadline day.

Not sure how strong a position we are in though. If he doesn't sign and leaves in a year then if i remember rightly we are entitled to pretty much pennies in the scheme of things. Think someone worked out it's be about 60k

Looking at it from a business point of view, and a player point of view..

In both cases there's no guarantee he'll make it. It's bloody encouraging but still a way to go..

So do we cash in? Does he - better wages, facilities and coaching possible.

I'd love to see him stay and see. More game time will probably do him well in the long game. If he's good enough he'll get a move.

Suspect he'll be off.

I'd happily take £500k up front with a sell on fee. He's been here 2 years so if it went to tribunal we'd probably get a warm handshake and maybe some cash if he wins the ballon d'or

Have we ever had a player that we made more money on by keeping them?

I can remember they claimed to turn down £1m for Kasim from QPR after the cup game and that worked really great for us in the end. I'm struggling to think of any others who we didn't just accept a deal for as soon as a decent one came in.

From a business point of view accepting a deal must be the smarter move for clubs at this level.

Fjortoft, we turned down £2m+ from Birmingham, only to sell him for £1.3m on deadline day (and then not replace him).

Obviously Matt Ritchie, where we turned down a near £1m bid, only to sell him for 500k later.

So we have a history of doing bad deals

Whatever we sell him for you’d hope a hefty sell on clause is included.

I believe the EPPP rules on specific sale price only apply up to 15/16 (can't remember which). Which is why we got £500k for HH.  After that as long as we offer him a deal, then it goes to a tribunal.

Any idea who?

Scenes if we end up selling him to Oxford

Nah, he'll want to go to a bigger club I'd have thought

Speaking of connections with ex players, Rylan Brownlie sounds like an exciting prospect... loan anyone?
