Every time the ball goes anywhere near him I shit myself. So fuck knows what our defenders are thinking.

So without even making an error, he's making the team nervous.

But from the limited games I've seen a lot of that is the defenders using him as an easy/lazy ball, which is a stupid/shit thing to do if you have a keeper who is not so good with his feet (and most keepers who are good with their feet ain't playing in the 4th tier). We've had years of defenders fucking up by being shoehorned into a system to play out from the back when they were shit on the ball and this seems little different with a keeper.

They just both feel like ‘new age’ keepers. Who have been coached excessively in youth academies to recycle the ball, be good with your feet,

is he good with his feet that tic he seems to have of having to stop then take a run up (like a toddler) to clear a ball seems to have been picked up by several teams as a weak spot.

Yeah, that’s part of it no doubt.

…but…it’s also high balls, crossses, corners & shots at him - which whilst the defence in cases could do better to prevent - should be the keeping basics

…also as much as we all have a soft spot for Mildy - it is probably worth questioning how effective he is as a keeper coach & also debating whether someone who was a lower league keeper is even good enough to coach keepers to a better standard than he reached.

Up until this season I would have disagreed with you as his previous involvement with choosing our loans up until now has been very good.  However I do agree that it is something to look at given it has been a problem, and a reoccuring one, this season.  I do think the GK budget available to him has to be taken into account though, which we won't know whether that has reduced since the Brynn/Benda, even Kovar days.

No, he isn’t good with his feet but I expect in an academy he was coached more on using his feet than he was claiming crosses.

I’m not saying Bycroft or Barden are good with their feet but that was probably something the coaches sunk an excessive amount of time into. The fact that they aren’t good with their feet probably did / will play a part in why they have / will end up on the lower leagues

The loans have been decent but then obviously you question whether Mildy had any say in bringing them here and / or whether he improved them with his coaching or we just happened to sign a good keepers.

Obviously playing time plays a part but when was the last time we had a keeper of our own that we saw significant (well any) improvement in?

Budget may have been cut & maybe I’m being simplistic & way out of touch but what more do you need other than a goal frame & a football for keeper training.

I don't think keepers are trained that much to hold things these days, but I agree Bycroft's big problem is parrying into danger areas rather than getting it parried to one side or the other.

Talking of shit keepers, watching the highlights of Barca thumping Valencia 7-1 the other night and that keeper that Liverpool have just spunked £26m on had a shocker!

Uniteds main keeper is shit too. Awful awful keeper. No idea why the other one isn't first choice.

I get football has moved on but I really don’t look at many keepers these days and think ‘yeah, he’s bloody good’

Manchester City have had a lot of success over the last decade & I don’t think they’ve ever had a top quality keeper.

We were told he had the call on who was brought in at the time, obviously you have to take that at face value, but that is what they said.

As far as budget, wages would be the most significant thing that could affect it.  I can't imagine Bycroft is earning huge amounts.

Talking of budgets, does it work in this league like it does higher up that if you sack a manager you have to continue paying them till the end of the contract they signed unless they get a job elsewhere, if it is, on my reckoning we are possibly still paying Morris till the end of this season and Kennedy until the end of next!

I'm sure i read somewhere there is a set period within their contract where they cant get employed by someone else after being sacked, and if they do they forfeit the remainder of the payoff

They would still pay them off but not necissarily until the end of the contract, depends on what's in it.  You can bet it's a minimum of 6 months though.  Morris has definitely been paid up now as he started coming out with his opinions on the club, that is usually the tell tail sign that the NDA is up when all that is owed is paid.  Kennedy will be getting paid for at least the rest of this season though I would expect.

Yep, that's why Graham Potter was not interested in working after he got the tin tack from Chelsea Cheesy  Get a new job at or close to the end of that type of contract for sure..

I've also raised this concern previously. I don't think much of the coaching staff is upto much in all honesty. Mildy, Bignot, Gunning...it hardly screams sought after coaches at the current level.

So, is Jojo Wallocott rejoining Town. Wasn’t involved for Crawley tonight as their new loan keeper started. I’ve no idea how true this is or whether it’s BS…
