I haven’t rated any of the managers since Garner (and I wasn’t exactly fully sold on him) but the fact Scott Lindsey has gone on to work minor miracles else where just shows what a joke set up we’ve had the last few years & maybe Lindsey wasn’t the problem (and dare I say it even a good choice) [hindsight is of course a wonderful thing]

I wonder how the Lindsey / Gav / Morris / Gav season would have panned out had Lindsey stayed….

Probably would have reached or finished just outside the playoffs i suspect

I wasnt sold on him but did he really do that bad a job? I think not

The football was dull & we never looked liked scoring a lot of goals but we also sold McKirdy.

I always got the impression based on the players ‘he’ bought in Lindsay might have been told McKirdy wasn’t going to be sold.

What was weird is that we recruited to play 3 at the back, but due to a few dodgy results he ripped it up pretty early and went 4231 and then later experimented with a diamond midfield.

He's since gone on to have a lot of success with Crawley with 3 at the back.

Makes you wonder if Sandro / Clem / somebody had too much influence and was telling him what formation / what players to play etc.

Believe your last point re Sandro to be true

Wasnt it the case McKirdy wanted out as soon as Payne had gone? He was going mental down the phone to his agent in the car park after the opening day drubbing at Harrogate

I remember seeing him wheel his wheelie suitcase past the Queen’s Tap to the train station after the 0-0 against (?Salford) where he was sent off and he didn’t seem best pleased understandably. He did wave when I called out to him though.

Probably

…he was under contract for long enough that we could have kept him for the season and still sold in the summer…

It that's as a fourth forward option then great. If it's to herald Glatzel leaving... less so.

Total fantasy head thought, but I wonder if McGurk is being used as a make weight. He's the kind of player Peterborough tend to nurture and sell on for an absolute fortune.

Also a possibility they could be offsetting any money they still owe us for Wakeling and / or any of the add ons.

Still - whilst I have no gripes about signing a 4th forward (if that’s what he is) but it’s not top of the shopping list. Strikers need service…

A ‘young loan’ or a ‘young’ loan?
