Half a rumour that we’re interested in Vadaine Oliver from Bradford City.

They really don’t like him. But then again, they weren’t keen on Doyle and Young until they rocked up here.

‘ Hate coming into the office and speaking to this bloke, but we have a York fan who every time I see him says that they are bringing in a City player. Anyways, he said that they wanted Oliver back but he is in talks with a L2 club, he thinks that Cheltenham and Swindon offered a better package than them.’

Cheltenham have just signed Ryan Bowman.

A quick glance at Wikipedia tells me he is 6ft 2, 32 years old and has a decent number of appearances, including a fair number at league one. His scoring record isn’t amazing but we can surely rely on the Midas touch of signing any attacker from Bradford?!

I reckon the pause in transfer activity is a bit of an internal battle between Kennedy wanting more experience and the owner wanting some cheap trialists/ loans to make up the squad. Probably similar to last year. That’s my pessimistic view anyway.

I agree when it’s one or two in a squad. The concern is that we have a trend for it, and simple percentages mean that you are not going to reverse the trend in all or most of the injury prone players you sign, especially with less investment in the medical department than clubs higher up the pyramid. It means that we construct a small squad, in the knowledge that at any one time, a certain percentage will most likely be unavailable. It is no coincidence that the number of long term injuries in recent years seems to have rocketed. Devine, Clayton, Uwakwe, Hepburn-Murphy. I’d love to see Sam M and Joe Acklam put these questions to Russell and co and get some proper answers that don’t just deflect. We succeeded in reversing a trend with Jonny Williams, and *may* do the same with Glatzel, but I can’t think of many others.
Got time with Russell on Monday, so will do just this.

Yeah assume it's fake, buts it's very stfc. A Bradford striker on loan, and a former player returning, stfc transfer bingo.

If you go full Catfish and reverse image search the profile picture, it turns out it's a lawyer.

Good stuff. I’ll get my Moonraker sub sorted in return! When Jamie Russell had his first “on the sofa” with the supporter’s club, the impression was universally positive. I don’t give much weight to Charlie Austin grumbling about Russell telling players that they were being released on the same day the retained players were told. Austin is not the model pro himself and had an axe to grind. My impression of Russell is a well-informed guy, with inadequate support and inadequate funds. Look forward to the interview.

Tyler Smith - if it’s not a made up story, I’d take him.

Having read views here, the adver and on twitter from fans it seems everyone is broadly aligned. Decent business done to date, but the first eleven is missing a creative midfield player and the squad is missing at least a GK, CB, LWB, the mentioned creative midfielder and a different type of forward. If you were being greedy then another CM as well probably.

I'd be interested in how Russell sees it.

I dare say the fans have not been wrong for the last two season on where the gaps are, and collectively they are not wrong now. I hope the club sees the same shortcomings.

We will get fees for Glatzel and Khan, pretty much our only sellable assets, and that will probably allow further recruitment of the journeyman type. That, imo, is the mindset of the club and the only way they can further finance recruitment.

If we sold Glatzel my enthusiasm for this season and would very quickly ebb away and the atmosphere amongst fans would turn before we’ve even started. Retain a shred of fucking ambition.

I would be quite gutted if we lost him.

At least give us a full season before you flog him please Swindon.

Although does his contract expire at the end of season? or do we have a 1 year option to extend?

100% this, Glatzel will be a massive asset this coming season if we can keep him fit.

Why are we even considering loaning players yet again from the same division- have we learnt nothing?

A Bradford account (InsiderChicken) that allegedly calls stuff early (no idea if that’s true myself) tweeted this last night:

“ Oh god, the Swindon striker curse could be at it again🙄 #bcafc”

And tweeted this morning downplaying the Smith on loan tweet.

So I’m assuming that means Oliver?
