I’d have thought there is a plethora of free agent decent enough L2 back up / challenging to be #1 keepers (not named Lewis Ward) that we could look at rather than having to ‘pay a fee’ (which in todays game doesn’t even mean we’ve had to ‘pay a fee’)
What's the point though if you can get a youngish one who you think can improve and be in the team when Bycroft moves on

I agree, I am guessing that our scouts have identified him as one they can improve upon and maybe sell for a profit in a few years. As you rightly state there are many free agent keepers out there to pick from.
Personally I would prefer an older keeper who can push Bycroft for a starting slot, much like Luke McCormick did with Benda.
Personally I would prefer a keeper of any age that can keep the fucking ball out of the net

Yes it’s all relative. Phil Foden was a world beater first half v Holland then they tightened up the midfield and he was taken off.

I bought a ticket as last years day time game was great. Having to drive from Highworth to Melksham and back suddenly doesn’t seem so appealing. I’m sure people from Melksham would say the opposite is true. I doubt Hall will start or Delaney and I saw the team at supermarine also. Be interesting if Randall is in the line up I guess. Scored a couple against us at our place a couple of years back.

Seriously? Er ok. Liked him last time he was here but just doesn't seem to have had the career I'd have expected Still, could be a good option Edit: he has played more games than I realised recently

Okay. I’ll take that for sure. Still a quality player at this level.

Rated him first time he was here. Can still remember those on pitch celebrations.
A life time ago now yet he's still only 32.

Adds some creativity to the midfield which looks a bit grafter-heavy at the moment, wouldn't hate it.
