The best thing about these signings is that they aren’t made as speculative punts - on unproven, often injury-ridden youth - to make a quick buck for the club. They’re signings that appear designed to make us competitive, and I’m all for it. What’s changed? Is there new funding, or new people in the background?

Agree, there certainly seems to be a step away from the recent recruitment phases of mainly bringing in young Premier League/Championship academy prospects that we could potentially develop and sell on for a fee/profit after 6-12 months.

I'm actually quite excited for the new season now. I can see Harry Smith doing what Ollie Palmer did for Wrexham the last couple of seasons. Players like Glatzel and McGurk should thrive off his physicality and holdup play. Would like to see a creative mid come in now.

Also, off topic - Is it me, or is Jason Lane just so insufferable on Twitter. Not a hour goes by without him banging on about something.

I wonder if last season (particularly after Flynn was sacked) was a case of ‘saving the pocket money’ to be able to spend more this season.

Quite shitty to just write off a season (if that’s what they’ve done) but I feel the fanbase might have been slightly more tolerable to last season - if it had been communicated that, last season was a shit hit for the greater good (if anyone would have believed any word that came out of the club)

Hopefully what they thought would happen after January v what actually happened was a wakeup call.

We will have to see if this is a permanent change in approach or whether next time round the wheel we revert to type.

For once I’m looking forward to us not being bullied around the pitch with a small, weak team. Always a tough one to watch.

No its not just you

Thats what the mute button is for.

I see EFL Hub (i assume nonsense) has mentioned us in relation to defender Robbie Cundy. I would think nothing of it, but he is from Oxford and outside currently being at Barnsley has been based in the south and southwest which seems a theme for our signings so far.

Yep. Seems like he has some serious injury trouble recently.

I wonder if the Morrison conversations are still ongoing as well.

Presuming all these experienced types we’ve signed/are signing would have an impact on the playing time of any prospective young loanees which may put some clubs off loaning to us.

I remember watching him a few times when he was on loan at Bath City a few years ago and was pretty impressed with him as a young CB playing against 'old pros' in NLS.  Looking back at his stats, he has played 15 times for Cambridge in League Two before going to play 18 times in League One for Gillingham, then 13 times for Bristol City in the Championship a couple of years ago and 25 appearances for Barnsley in League One last season.  I would be pretty happy if he rocked up at Town come 3rd August.

Was looking at the Crawley forum to see what the hell is going on there with all their player departures (feels like the season after we got promoted with Wellens). On a thread discussing who leaves next someone has stated the next two to leave will be Liam Kelly to Franchise, and Jay Williams to Swindon.
