Without the Loan system, we would never have marveled at the delights of Devoy for a few months.

Hence the last line of my post.

I dont want the junk being fobbed off on us though, of which we have had far too many to mention, several in recent years too.

A winger would be encouraging as i would like a return to 433 honestly.

Important to remember that 4 or 5 experienced players can't be the end of business. We need maybe 10-11, just for numbers, and there is probably some deadwood to shift.

It will be a good start, but its just a start.

Just to add i think we have 13 contracted, and that includes Johnson, Aguiar, Cain, Dworzack and Uwakwe. Those 5 range anywhere from unknown how good they could be, to have played for a couple of years and not shown a lot.

So lots of work to do.

Having quickly looked at the squad, I'd be looking at 11-12 players needed, the majority of which should be considered first choice in their position.  An entire back four is needed (three of which I'd like see as first choice standard), another central midfielder that's better than we have, three wide players, two of whom should be first choice if going 4-3-3 and two attackers, at least one of whom should be first pick (I'm not buying Drinan being first choice in a promotion chasing team).  Plus a GK who can compete with Bycroft.

Hal Robson kanu is a useless git who didn't deserve to wear the shirt

That has nothing to do with him missing a sitter at Leicester  that would have won my 120-1 bet. Nope

He was fucking crap.

Then scores a couple of goals at the Euros and is demanding 80k a week

To me, a loan should be a bit of stardust that you'd never otherwise be able to get, not someone to paper over the cracks.

Indeed.

Enjoy a good loan player but never fall in love with any loanee. Enjoy them while you have them.

Should we just get loan players in Jan, so they can't be recalled.

Anyone else find it strange we have heard nothing about what U18’s are getting retained. For context last season Dworzak’s pro deal was announced on 14th April 2023…

If it was in the context of a club otherwise falling over itself to tell us things, sure. So no, not really.

Considering the u18s were probably the one bright spot from last season I’m surprised we didn’t get a lot of them signed up & signed up early (I guess it’s possible we have, we just haven’t been told)

There was mention a few pages back about possibly 2 signings this week. I have assumed that this comes down to negotiations/meetings taking place with representatives for McGurk and Number 59 (whose name I can never spell and can't be bothered to look up).

I always feel a bit 'meh' when signing players that have already been here the previous season, as it doesn't feel 'shiny and new'. But, McGurk has talent and 59 looked 'solid' (in several meanings of the word).

Isn’t Clarke a DM, too? Will we/should we play with 2 DMs if Obofrhe(?) signs as well.

Clarke is more a box to box midfielder isn't he.
Could chip in with a few goals as well given his record.
