Sorry to see Minturn go.

Without a seasoned central defender alongside him, he was unlikely to develop positively staying here.

So good for him.

If the financials are right for STFC (or more likely Clem, Zav and Standing), then I accept this sale would make sense for both parties.  There's nothing left to play for this season.

If Clem told the fans that he was skint and needs to sell players to keep the club going until he sells up maybe they would understand!

I have no problem at all with selling Minturn. Yes he’s young but I also don’t believe he’s good enough. He’s been the weakest point of our defence for weeks now. I think it would be foolish not to sell if a club is willing to buy him.

This is why we have to get rid of this ownership- be better off fan owned. You could guarantee higher gate revenue for a start.

just seem to be asset stripping to me
seems like it to me too.

Well, it seemed odd bringing in another 19 year old CB. Makes sense now.

At this point we are all about flipping players. So, a decent profit and add ons is not to be sniffed at.

Depends who is doing the sniffing  Yikes

I can understand the business model of getting young players in and trying to advance them etc. But not at the cost of success and ambition on the pitch. I've said it before, we are becoming a shop window and not a progressive club. I'm not paying for that!

This. With so many dubious individuals owning the club, what direction of travel are they pointing the club towards? And what’s in it for them? Leaving us with what exactly to support?

This is why, as it stands, I will not be renewing - I have no idea what % of my money goes towards the club, the squad or hangers on ‘who aren’t the kind you can just ask to stop using facilities/services’.

If Minturn does get sold to Boro, I expect we’ll get him back on loan for the rest of the season. I also still expect Wakeling to return on loan, there is a savvy deal to be done there if anyone is competent enough willing.

I’m personally not interested in ex players coming back on loan.

On a technicality, are you referring to Wakeling or Minty if he goes or both?

Honestly, would rather we have our own players. If Minturn is our own great, we can develop him, if he’s on loan from boro for half a season meh

The willingness of some to see Minturn go now baffles me. He's not been the worst thing about the defence by a long stretch, and he's still a kid. We need to build around players like him, not sell them off at the first sign of interest... but that's not what the ownership group are after, they just want money.

Swindon will always be a selling club. That's normal. If an offer comes in for a player, I would say the club, no matter who's in charge, would consider it.

We need to sell players to keep afloat.
