It’s going to be two seasons - pre January squad and post January squad + how we do in Jan during the uncertainty. I think.

Every January window under Clem has seen us look worse, there is nothing to suggest this will be any different.

Season One we lost KKH, Gilbert, Simpson, Crichlow

Replaced with Tomlinson, Davison, Cooper, O'brien and Barry. We then later bought in Egbo on a free after the window had shut.

I wouldn't say that weakened us at all. We got very unlucky with Cooper's injury and Tomlinson. I'd say our squad became stronger.

Every January window under Clem has seen us look worse, there is nothing to suggest this will be any different.

Again, it's probably a totally separate discussion as I see it but ignoring the off field stuff and just focusing purely on the field, since Clem has come in there just doesn't 'feel' like a cohesive, consistent plan of action for going forward. He did say when Garner and Chorley were employed (the best season we've had) that the head coach/director of football structure was put into place so that if one was to move on we should be able to seamlessly replace them and carry on with what we had. Perhaps once both Chorley and Garner left, there was a bit of panic - the Lindsay appt and the time taken to appoint him did seem 'strange'. Then you had the Sandro experience followed by the appointment of Flynn who has been allowed to bring in who he wants on his own steam - which has resulted in probably the thinnest squad we've had a while - to be fair Flynn is doing a very good job with what he has.

It might be just me, and I have said this before so apologies for being a repetitive bore, but I don't feel we have enough 'football people' making coherent decisions. Perhaps Jamie Russell is that man to change things, but to Quaggy's point we do seem to be regressing, where we should be building transfer window on transfer window. And this January on the face of it seems monumental given we have to replace Kemp and Young and possibly cash in on one of more of the first team regulars.

Before the season started we were told Town would have a financial budget for a promotion team.

Sorry to say the current team is clearly not a promotional team mainly because there are no backup players when injuries happen etc. Example Blewitt is not the hard nosed Centre half that is needed and neither is Charlie Austin a 46 game youthful captain required. Before the flack I receive with these comments Blewitt has performed well and way above expectation and Charlie Austin has performed well in periods in most games.

That said, Flynn has towed the company line and has taken the blame for not getting additional players. His reward could be that he has recently been given an extended contract by the owner / s. Funny that !!!

My comments clearly point to a lack of funds available to bolster the playing staff.....

What I am saying is either money is being taken off the top for other things or the club is being run exceptionally tight to show any potential new owner how profitable the club is currently and with the right investment what the potential earnings could be in the future.

Check out Oxfords gate for their recent top of the table clash with Bolton. Under 9k

Simply put..... things simply don't add up and I am just hoping for a white knight to come and take over.

We're not a promotion side, haven't got any steel.

Div 4 doesn't really change much does it? If its Macari, Wize/Sturrock or Di Canio we've always been successful having that right blend of 'steel' as you put it and players that can play. Mix that in with making sure the players put in the work in preseason and are very fit and its the recipe for League Two success.

I would say though that we're coming to a bit of a tipping point. What with Clem's rousing "I'm coming over to personally oversee recruitment in January" speech and the threadbare squad we've seen for the first half of the season. If we have a poor transfer window and a shit second half to the season, fans will start dwindling next season for sure.

Oxford are losing circa £4m per year so not the best comparison for our circumstances.

This is spot on. It can't be underestimated how big the second half of this season is.

First season with Clem the fans came back and we had an unlikely journey to the playoffs.
Second season the model fell apart but the fans still backed the team.
Third season, they course corrected, but we dropped season ticket numbers already showing fans losing faith. If the second half of the season doesn't back up the clubs ambition for promotion then i think next season it gets even tougher.

I was unaware Oxford were losing that type of money. every year.
Didn't they sell a couple of players for big money to Brentford or Fulham last season as well ?

Everything to suggest it will be similar to be honest. Last one was an absolute abortion.

Disagree, we were definitely weaker 2nd half ot that season for me. Simpson was a huge loss.
