As you often say Rob the sample size is too small but i won't judge a player after 6 starts as not good enough when we are sat just 1 point off the play offs and 7 off 3rd after just 20 games

Be very interesting to see how many games we have lost when he has started

Won 3, Drew 1 and Lost 2 in the league, for games he started.  But it's more nuanced than that - he went off in the FGR for example and came on the Wrexham and Stockport ones, when the goals flew in!

I won't include the cup games - it's not pretty, for anyone!

Hang on - you said we hadn't done anything to change, and I was saying we had, now you disagree?  You are odd sometimes!

Also, if you wish to disagree with my statement about Kinsella not being great, feel free.  The sample size is too small, but thus far, the change has yielded 4 goals against in the two games, which is worse than the season average.  Data isn't helping, not yet.  I was pointing out though that Flynn had tried something, and it had born some less leaky looking performances, until the last 10 minutes yesterday.  The reality is we have conceded 4 goals in the two games, 44 shots at goal, 14 of which were on target and I think it was him that gave away the penalty.  That isn't looking "great" - which was my assessment, not that he was "bad", just not "great".
I really meant nothing has changed with the way the defenders are set up and play. Getting caught upfield is a regular occurrence every game. Kinsella may have added a bit of midfield cover but the back 5 play as they’ve always played.

If the club try pulling that one good luck to them selling tickets for the remainder of the season and convincing people to buy season tickets again.

I agree. So don’t rule it out.

Simple fact we are three good players missing from being a possible promotion winning side.
Angus McDonald could have been one. Anthony Grant 4 years ago could have been two and signing Jake Young permanently at the beginning of the season three.
As it is.... simply trying to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

So are you saying that after beating the only unbeaten side in the league and a team that was in the play off positions on their own ground we are not "possible promotion side"?

I don't think we are a promotion team right now - the law of averages will keep kicking us in the arse, like our bad run.  You can't give away over 20 shots a game and hope to win enough points to gain promotion.  It also doesn't take much to cause our squad to become stretched again.  I think we are a spot or two above our ending for the season (all things being equal - we could add to the squad, we could lose some key players, it's finely balanced).  I can see why people think we are in the hunt, I can also see why others think no chance.

Adje...
Remind me again, how many games are played this season?
Currently this group of players are not promotion winning quality.
My opinion is they are 3 "players" short.

Add some steel in Jan.
We’ve won almost every home game comfortably. Start winning away - which we did on tues - and we will go up.

I think its almost pointless discussing where we are right now, and what we need in the window to get turn ourselves into a promotion team. This season is almost certainly going to be like to mini-seasons. We'll be starting matches in February with a vastly different first 11 to what we have now. Our two best players will almost certainly not be here (Kemp and Young), and add to that any other outgoings like Khan, and possibly Hutton. The whole season will rely on January activity as there wil be some huge holes to fill in the first 11, let alone back ups on the bench.

We are exactly what we are!

When we are on it we’re the best team in the division and can batter anyone.
When we are off it - we are terrible and relegation fodder.

We end up being both during most games !!

Decent XI. Next to nothing after that.

…that’s where we are at now but give it a couple of months and half our team will be gone anyway.

Our season can be summed up in one word. January. Might as well close this tread now. Or start a new one that only allows players names who could be coming in only.

We know where we are. We know the status of players contracts. All conversations default to.. January. We simply have to wait and see. I’d suggest the club must have an inkling as to what will happen and should be making plans for that in, January. There’s that word again.

But this thread (which has often drifted into unchartered waters to be fair) is called Transfer Rumours. Not 'Swindon Town completed deals in and out'. Transfer rumours happen the whole calendar year, which is exactly the point of it. The Khan transfer rumour that was released into the press this week has opened up discussion. The whole premise of the thread (which was actually triggered from Steve Lomas constantly being 'linked' with the club) is basically about idle transfer speculation.

Robinz I'm sure you know but it's 46.Which is exactly my point. I don't think you can say that we are not "a possible promotion side" at this point in my opinion. I think people are overestimating the quality in this division.
