Good. I want to be a frerehouse, not brewery owned

like a brotherhood? (and a French one at that)

Its good and well having relationships with clubs and being trusted but when we had like four loans from the same club....its a bit much.

yup, that's my point.

I also want the ability to do what's best for this club, not play kids for the benefit of others*

* ok, that's not quite how it is now.

Yeah, I think the link needs to be a mixture of taking players on loan to benefit the parent the club by giving them game time & taking players on loan as an extended trial because they’re in the last year of their contract and surplus to requirements.

Then if we do want them we can sign them or to get the deal done before other clubs can sign them - the parent club sell them to us for nothing but with a 5-10% sell on.

If they come good we win by having a good player & a future sellable asset. Parent club wins by getting a small % of that asset which they didn’t think would be worth anything.

Would obviously be a difficult one to get right for all parties because as good as Dan Kemp is - it’s a very short term thing that is massively going to hinder us come January when he goes.

I get why as a club we do it but it’s still a bit too short termist for my liking.

seems to be the way it is these days, rebuild in January.

Doubt it's an STFC exclusive, but is a bit mad

Ben Ward is an intriguing one as Burnley would have wanted him playing in our first team but it’s hard to see him getting much game time.

he's back at Burnley for 'assessment' on his 'injury' isn't he?

not really seen much of him, but he didn't look ready just yet

Not sure what his injury is but definitely didn’t look ready when he has played.

If we are in the hunt come January and playing good football as we have been we might do better in the loan market with our remaining slots than we managed to do in the summer with Ward and a couple of empty spaces.

We played Ward as LWB though and he looked atrocious. I think he was really signed as cover for Clayton/FBT at LWB as a bit of a panic after the Clayton injury.

Pretty much covered here in a bit of detail in pretty much the wrong thread.
