Ryan Edwards or Connor Wickham? Place your bets ladies and gentlemen. Are we sure it is either of these two? Will there be chicken fruit on some faces? Will reputations be trashed or upheld?

If we do sign this Edwards bloke, I really really hope he actually is any good. He seems to have been built up by some as our defensive saviour. I hope he is (if he signs) but I freely admit that I'd never heard of him until reading about him in this thread!

I trust whoever players Flynn brings in TBF, so far it’s not too shabby is it? Defensively we look a bit suspect but Suttons third goal was a bit of a fluke, as was the Rectum game. However, I’d piss myself laughing if someone completely unknown rocks up, like a foreigner from an obscure club for instance. Yeah that would cause a meltdown on a par with Chernobyl.

I miss those days! As a kid it was brilliant signing someone like Cuervo or Darras.. or any of Colin Todd's signings. No wikipedia to check their history or youtube to watch their highlights.

An experienced Gordon Greer type would be a God send and could mentor MMinturnfor a season or two. Minturn I think could have an excellent future if given a good chance.

Back in the 70s and 80s we had to rely on the Rothmans Football Yearbook for details!

Agreed. He needs to bulk up and I think we could have an excellent centre half on our hands

There are several of that type of centre back available on frees.

Here is the list I made up of experienced free CB's last week.

Ben Heneghan CB (Sheff W) 29
Phil Jones CB (Man Utd) 31
Ciaran Clark CB (Newacstle) 33
Craig Cathcart CB (Watford) 34
Daniel Ayala CB (Blackburn) 32
Steven Caulker CB (Wigan) 31
Scott Dann CB (Reading) 36
Ryan Edwards CB (Dundee U) 29
Jack Simpson CB (Cardiff) 26

Obviously several we couldnt get near to signing but a few would be worth a punt for sure, not just Edwards.

I used to love those books, wasn't there a smaller News of the World/Sun version or did I imagine that?

Edit - no I didn't - this kiddie!

Not sure TBH but I wouldnt be surprised, I used to get the Rothmans every year without fail, great source of facts and stats back then.

Like Elliot Benyon was supposed to be at the other end?

Yep, they sponsored loads of sporting things in the 70's and 80's including Fords Rally team.
