I think we'll sign one more striker this window. Flynn has been after a big boy all summer and last night highlighted that we need an alternative to Austin up top, if albeit they're sharing the position rather than as a replacement.

I think we'll get Ward signed as our backup keeper and possibly one signing for each area of the pitch, just to bulk out the squad. So 4 more in total perhaps?

The Ward thing is just plain odd, we must be paying him something for him to be hanging about, so why not either sign him or get rid?

Bizarre isn't it? But we don't know the inner workings and he seems happy enough to still be here, and we seem happy enough to still have him here, so I guess we go on waiting!

Guess it works out well for us as it Murphy Mahoney was to get injured, our other keepers are inexperienced enough that we can appeal for emergency loans to cover (I think) or wait and only sign up Ward if we need him (whilst the free transfer window is open) to save on a wage.

Works well for us but I’m not sure how Ward benefits from it

My interpretation was always that when he left Sutton in January they paid his contract up and like any sort of contract pay up/gardening leave scenario if you get another job in the meantime you pay the balance back on the basis that your new employer will be paying you, and that suited us last season as it meant we had a back up keeper on hand without having to pay them, unless we really needed him.

I s'pose only thing could be that it was a 2 year contract with Sutton and thus we can do the same this year?

Based off absolutely nothing I’m going to chuck Theo Walcott into the mix. Was training at Reading.
