that doesn't sound (rumoured) good business to me. But we don't hold the cards
From the sounds of it they’re going with a back 4 next season and just sold their RWB/RB to Barnsley so Lavinier would slot right in. UGM seems better in a back 3 which we’re going with so on paper the deal works out well for both clubs. Although ideally I’d like to be signing UGM without losing Lavinier however needs must if we need to avoid a tribunal fee. All depends on who we can bring in at LWB and then cover for both positions. Jack Hunt was linked in here by Cowley before although I assume that’s now off the table with the changes since then but that sort of player would be ideal I think with how the wingbacks set up so high against Plymouth. Granted he is a right sided player rather than a left sided player.

These rumours hold more weight considering FGR recently sold their right back to Barnsley. So they need somebody like Lavinier.
I'd be disappointed to see him leave. Versatile and a surprisingly good technique. The goals against Grimsby and Northampton very impressive.
EDIT: UTR got there before me with the sale of their right back!

So we assumed. Probably was in part but having watched Williams last season play most weeks his impact on games overall was ok in the final third and pretty non existent any further back.
Don't get me wrong Williams was a good player. Defensively he cost us a few goals by going to ground to easily. The FGR clip above he fell over they score, didn't he do the same against Vale in the first leg and they pulled one back?? I'm not saying he cost us promotion because he didn't, I blame Garner for the change in our attack at home to Vale and the terrible tactics at Vale Park but that's another issue. Williams was good but his theatrics did start to wear thin. Let's hope he doesn't turn us over this year with the.

I'm never going to be happy losing lavinier, but accept it's better than not getting a CB in. it was the +75k bit of the rumour I didn't like. But hey it's a rumour, that fee could be if he plays for England. etc. etc

Conroy went down ‘injured’ in the first leg and the physio came on. So he had to go off the pitch. They take the throw in and Baudry is clearly caught between two men - one of whom scores because it’s 1 CB trying to make 2 STs. Thanks Dion.

Lavinier leaving just increases the need to hang onto Hutton. This could free up the funds to get Tomlinson who IMO is a more rounded player than Lavinier as if we have a CB crocked scenario Tomlinson can at least do a make shift CB role.
However if we lose Lavinier and then Hutton before the window closes that would be far from ideal.

Is Tomlinson even on our radar anymore? I know we had a loan with a view to a permanent agreed but that was pre Flynn and Flynn is running the recruitment now

Amazes me people even consider Tomlinson.. he’s been injured most of the time he’s been with us over the 2 spells.

I'm not all that fussed about losing Lavinier. He looks good in spurts and disinterested in others.
The former FGR player might potentially be an upgrade. There again, he might not!

Walsall was the unnamed club that went in for Tomlinson in January before he came here instead. Last i heard a month ago was that Posh have been trying to convince JT to stay but he was keen to return to Swindon. Things can change quick however.

Did we not have an option to buy him at an agreed price?
What i dont understand is why agree that deal if you cant afford it in the first place.

I’d assumed that it was actually because Flynn wasn’t keen on the deal, albeit the official word was it was too much money
