Sorry

We are not a big fish anymore...

So our gates are relatively  high, will they continue to be that way if the start of the season isn't good....

In terms of attractiveness to players we are not.....

In terms of financial clout we are not.....

We are now a middling L2 team and will continue to be....

Yes Morfuni got rid of Power, but has he hit the resources to push us forward if and its a very big if we manage to get out of L2.

From what I've heard no ,

But you keep believing we are the Man U of L2....
Got to be honest, if I were you I’d walk away now - you’re obviously not enjoying even the basics of being a fan.

You’re confusing ‘big team’ with ‘big club’. Yes, it may not be brilliant at the moment but if you believe that is how it’s always going to be, what’s the point.

what do you mean by big fish then Audrey?

For me that term means financial clout after sinking to a league lower than you should be.

I don't see what he's said is wrong to be honest.

 -  Flynn said we can't compete with teams for player asking silly wages
- we've loaned 2 players in with a week to go, backing that up.

ok you can argue we are being sensible, other teams are overstretching.

But it doesn't scream big fish.

We do have more fans than most, and that is nice. But, ultimately, meaningless.

Well not exactly as it gives us *our* budget. But it seems it's not enough on its own

So you’re saying all a club is is the here and now without a nod to its history?

It’s all this defeatism that’s being thrown around before the season has fucking started that grips my shit.

I've thing occurs that I don't know the answer.

we are losing 500k a season
we have been a million in debts due iirc?

does the 500k included debt payback?

To me I think that debts just shifted to owing Clem instead and are separate.

but if they are coming out this year's revenue things could look better this time next year?

I'm saying all that is relevant to the future is the here and now.

History are things to be proud of as fans.

I get defeatism before the window/season kicking off can drive people mad. But it's just opinion.

I get just as annoyed by the 'wait and see until you discuss it' crowd.

Sometimes think 90% of fans would be better off just logging off from STFC during pre season as all it seems to do is stress them out.
Fans want to know the ins and outs of everything now a days since social media came along, and it’s not healthy.

It was better when you turned up on a Saturday and read the boardroom notes in the programme, no one was stressing during the week, arguing, wondering if the owners business was going tits up, thinking the budget had been cut.

Have we as fans got a given right to know everything? I think we push our luck at times.

what the heck are you on about Quagmire?

I'll talk about what the fuck I like on here thanks. Even if it makes me as stressed. ignore it

Not sure how discussing how things are going and what the definition of 'big fish' is , is wanting to know everything all the time but whatever

Think it’s bubble effect of being on an STFC forum. 90% of the time during pre season I’m switched off from STFC but come on here/Twitter every now and then when something happens or there’s something interesting to debate, realistically it’s such a small part of the day I’m thinking about football but because we’re on an STFC forum talking purely football, it can seem like it’s all we think or talk about

Are we certain Cowley is actually a fan?

Wasn’t aimed at you personally.

Was on about the general feeling fans have for the club at the moment, it’s so negative and draining, no one seems to have switched off from it since the season ended.

Sometimes just think fans were alot more relaxed and positive around the club when they didn’t get monthly board meetings, Twitter updates and Talk of the Town podcasts.

The more access fans get, the more they seem to moan about.

I don’t remember fans constantly asking what the budget was like 20 years ago, players were just signed.

Ignorance is (was) bliss as they say…

I think the point has been made several times. We want more information, we get more information and we don’t believe the aforementioned information anyway…

I am having a bit of a pop at the situation, but apologies for taking it personally.

ok I can see some of your points.

more than anything I just want to see the club setting a base to move forward; and have belief that we go into a season with a real chance

probably one for another thread (apologies, thought we were in 'new beginnings')

I just don’t remember, in all the years I’ve supported this basket case of a club, a pre season as negative as this one.

We’ve had some seasons with awful sides, awful managers and awful owners and I still don’t think any of them have been looked at as negatively as this upcoming one.

I think it's literally down to a lack of transfer activity when expectation was we'd address last year's shit show  early.

yes of course it's late in the day, but not too late.

3 solid signings and things look a lot more rosy.

there will always be some that take it to the extreme.

I’m at the point where I don’t think anything will improve the overall atmosphere other than promotion out of this division. I actually think it’ll get worse year on year until that happens.

Would half the questions that are being asked now still get asked if we were up in League One where most people think we should sit? Potentially but I think the low feeling of being down here for so long paired with a completely shot confidence going into this next season (mainly due to the amount of other teams that look stronger than us) and feeling that we’re stagnating lower than we should be causes people to be more likely to poke holes
