I can sort of see the logic. MacDonald is by some distance the player in our team who looks least comfortable with the ball at his feet, but he's not really impressed. He's good in the air, but FBT is better, better on the ball and organises the defence (when the two of them are playing together, it's notable that FBT is much more vocal despite Angus being skipper). If it was a case of keeping one or the other, I'd take FBT every time.

But there's no obvious reason why it would be one or the other, and we appointed the guy captain five months ago, and he's not let anyone down really. Would be a strange transfer, but all the rumblings seem to suggest we certainly won't be shy about turning over players quickly if there's money on offer.

FBT is a full back and isn't our player anyway. If everyone is fit MacDonald starts currently, so we better gave several good centre backs ready to come in if we're thinking of letting MacDonald go or it's unbelievably stupid.

I don’t think we need to sign several replacements for him, one will do!

Yes but they wouldn’t be MacDonalds replacement(s) though would they.

Definitely need a couple of CBs, and preferably just the shithouse 6'3 and above  types. They are not going to break the bank and you may even pick up a gem, there are plenty out there. However, no doubt Sandro of Michelle will take some flint kid from a B team who has no experience of league football and we'll end up going through the regular cycle of conceding piss poor goals by trying to pass it out from the back or just being pure bullied. If we do sign some experience that lends itself to league 2 shite I'll hold my hands up

we actually invested in a very experienced football league defence this season compared to previous years. All except clayton and he is probably the star man at the back for us

FBT is a full back

He's been playing very well at CB, and it's hardly unheard of for a full back to move into a CB position as they get older - see Jack Smith, Jamie Vincent, Nathan Thompson and so on.

But we'll see what happens.

If rumours of Tomlinson are true he’d take the LB slot leaving FBT as one of the CB roles.

On the OSC on Wednesday it was mentioned that before Ferguson went back to Peterborough that Nathan Thompson was due to be coming back
