The team needs a bit more than a finisher, although that is sorely needed, so keep the faith - staying fit when you are pushing 34 would take some doing. Would League 1 be a bridge too far for him? Don't get bent out of shape until next May, if in fact there is reason for it five months out. The main thing is the commitment being shown to address the sorry state in front of goal.
