Is there a poster on here that has consistently provided genuine titbits of inside info, rather than vague statements that anyone could offer? I think that, during my lurking days, there was a poster that seemed to offer some genuine insight but was berated on a few occasions.
I'd imagine you can't really. Some people get vague information and share it. It's a forum. There was someone who got berated i think you are right maybe duke of banbury but i think that was more as he was sharing news from what some seen as a bias position Back on the subject, I'm not sure why it's some big headline, he literally said himself yesterday he has itchy feet and needs to think things over

There are definitely people who know things but can’t outright say certain things because I guess it would be easy to trace back to source. There are also plenty of people on here who only say about things they ‘know’ once they’ve come out in public under the guise that ‘they couldn’t say’

What f@cking mess. That said could be a blessing as with Pitman joining Gas
Off subject a little....Pitman has so far this season scored 30 goals in 24 games for AFC Portchester in the Pitchero League this season already!

Got to say, given a choice between Austin and a young Simpson-esque striker, I know which one I’d go for.

Playing the Devils Christmas Advocaat...
What if Lindsey genuinely doesn't want Austin and made it clear that he didn't. What player would want to come to a club to play for a manager who doesn't want him?
Just a thought based on nothing but an over active negativ mindset I have currently.

Simpson has came off the bench at Huddersfield in the last 2 games so I think no matter what we can discount him now.

No manager would go against an owner who seemed to have done a deal for a known forward and previous club favourite especially when scoring goals had been a problem all year. Except a manager who is on thin ice. But I for one don't think Austin is the answer to Swindon's problems. There needs to be a big change in attitude and a passion to want to win and win well. Without counting the Mansfield game. Simply little passion or desire on the pitch all season

In fairness it’s been years since I’ve seen Austin play. Same for most I think and those that have seen him play probably have only done so a handful of times in the last 5 years. We have definitely looking at this deal through nostalgia glasses. I think we have very little indication as to how good Austin still is, how his game and changed and what he can bring to the team. He could hit the ground running like Tommy Mooney did or he could be absolute bobbins like Tony Thorpe. It’s a gamble. I think if it wasn’t Austin we’d all be massively skeptical - like a lot of us (myself definitely included) were when we were linked with an aging, injury prone, goal shy Connor Wickham in the summer.

I think you are massively underestimating how many managers would get their nose put out of joint by a chairman signing players ‘behind their back’ / ‘without their input’ If that is the case here…for all I know Clem might have approached Lindsey and said ‘I can get us Austin if you want him’ and Lindsey has said ‘yes’ or it could be the complete opposite
