No but he ultimately did get us a decent squad together in about 2 weeks last summer. I just think the lack of a proper football person familiar with how things work and the back channel discussions is a bit of a void at the club.
Again…wasn’t SDM heavily involved with Wigan’s title winning recruitment last season?

Wasn’t Les Caffery also involved with our recruitment last season?

Was only there for 6 months and was just an analyst. I mean an actual football person not a former SkyBet spokesman come performance analyst.
What qualifies someone as an “actual football person”?

According to the Adver -

'Town and Hibs are yet to formally agree a fee for the 25-year-old, but a deal is thought to be close.'

Been in the game a long time, lots of contacts, an older head to lean on. Like I said someone that knows how things work. We are missing that experienced head in the coaching staff and the club in general IMO.

Hull thought they were signing this guy so sounds promising.

Around six foot (wiki and transfermarkt) so would make for a pretty tall back four.

Rookie chairman. Rookie manager. Rookie technical director. Rookie CEO.

What could possibly go wrong.

Experience does not equal expertise. John Sheridan anyone?

Football is littered with experienced dross and, likewise, full of people with no discernible track record doing great things.

We are only going to know if the recruitment strategy has worked at midnight tonight. It just seems strange there’s so many online fans indulging in the possibility it might all fail.

Let’s judge this at 11pm! I agree about the manager, but in terms of the rest, let’s see what they pull out of the bag today. It could be alright.

I take your point but with the 4 major roles at a football club I'd quite like at least 2 to be experienced.

Hope so.

Really need the Town to get out of this division and hopefully that is moving up

I’m not referring specifically to the transfer window. I’m stating more generally that we come across as a bit amateur currently in a football sense and would benefit from an experienced football head at the club, not a dinosaur. Days like today that type of person would probably be especially useful is my point.

This appears to be a pivotal moment in Clems ownership. The business model is to sell our players without losing them on a free. So I do understand that with 1 year left on the contact and we assume no signs of agreeing a new one, this is the best chance to get some money in for Harry. He also has one good season under his belt in his entire career, so no guarantees he can replicate all the goals from last. The replacement that Clem brings in will give us a good interaction on where we are going for the future. Also, the meltdown by some on here is always an enjoyable way to spend the day.
One good season and a piss-poor disciplinary record and bad attitude towards officials. He's shown he can score goals (in one season) but needs the right manager to handle him to get the necessary balance.

New temporary transfer deadline rule. Any further overly negative posts or suggestions that we are going to be relegated results in a 24 hour read only ban.

This is your only warning and there will be no appeals.
