I should be upset about the likelihood of today being shit

But part of me is quite looking forward to the meltdown.

We do it better than any other club.

This appears to be a pivotal moment in Clems ownership. The business model is to sell our players without losing them on a free. So I do understand that with 1 year left on the contact and we assume no signs of agreeing a new one, this is the best chance to get some money in for Harry. He also has one good season under his belt in his entire career, so no guarantees he can replicate all the goals from last. The replacement that Clem brings in will give us a good interaction on where we are going for the future. Also, the meltdown by some on here is always an enjoyable way to spend the day.

…it’s like Gordon Greer all over again.

There is such an easy way for Clem/Town to come out of this fine.

Offer McKirdy a new deal, if he wants to go he will turn that deal down. Then we sell an unsettled player who has turned down a new contract who clearly doesn’t want to stay, great. McKirdy becomes the bad guy here.

If we don’t publicly offer him anything then for the all fans know he might have happily wanted to stay here and has been sold against his wishes (unlikely granted)

If it’s 150k then I’m not sure it’s even worth it.

Where has £150k come from?  Ballsy if true. They must be very confident about the replacements.

To be fair I can’t see the jocks putting up with McKirdy’s antics for long….

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing how my (Scottish) football team feel about him. Don't think we have any Hibs, but we have a few Hearts and they are going to hate him.

Big day today, will try to hold off judgment until the end of the day to see who's in and who's out. What I want to avoid is Jan 21 style nasty surprises - that was the day where there was hardly a whisper until DJ had gone, and Matt Smith too. At least I'm prepared for McKirdy...

How can Simpson be priced around the 600k mark and McKirdy only 150k? Should have just kept him.

Keep hearing this, but he has 2 from 5 already in a team that has started off quite poor. Could've had more goals too.

I have no doubts he would get at least 15 this season if he stays. That's a lot of goals to replace with one day to go.

McKirdy is out of contract EOS, and is 25, so no compensation when he leaves under freedom of contract. Simpson is 20. The youth premium is huge.

They'll lose more than that on dropped gate receipts.

But still, very cheap.

….yep, not to mention there will be a lot of upset kids / angry parents who have bought shirts with 11 McKirdy on the back.

Of course the club doesn’t have to do anything about that. A lot of the top clubs would offer replacements/swaps but we might not be in a position to do that.

Either way someone will turn up in the adver with arms folded looking angry
