McKirdy is our talisman.
We wouldn’t have done anything last season without an inform McKirdy. Hell, without the injury we might have even made top 3.
We won’t do anything this season without an inform McKirdy. Probably more so now without the likes of Payne, Barry & Simpson/Davison. No guarantees McKirdy will hit the same heights though.
I’ll stand by it - we sell him and our season is done.

However, I agree with Berniman that childishness, petulance, ill discipline and fashion sense - are all massive negatives and the only thing endearing him to the Town faithful is the goals.
If he’d have scored 3 goals last season we’d have all wanted him binned off. He’s not a player that brings (m)any positives to the team off the field.

I would be all for selling Mckirdy for decent (ish) money as long as we still bring in 2 strikers (1 striker/1 forward). I don't agree with the talisman bit, a talisman doesn't spend his time suspended or throwing a strop on the pitch when things are not going your way. If you are 16 yrs old, into wearing shades and bucket hats and spend most of your day on Insta, then i get it, but for me he is not our talisman - i don't think we have one at the moment.
He is the closest thing we’ve got though. He’s already got double the number of goals in England as any other current member of the squad and Gladwin is the only other player that has achieved double figures in a single season. McKirdy did actually score 11 in a season for Carlisle so he’s a bit more than a 1 season wonder. With him will go by far and away our main goal threat, so it’s a massive void that will need to be filled.

So won’t be Doidge then, this has an Elliot Benyon scenario written all over it.

Given where he's been playing season to date, I feel McKirdy's replacement is already at the club in the form of Shade. That's not to say that we don't need reinforcements, if McKirdy goes we absolutely need another similar body in.
