Would have thought Rutherford is the kind of signing fans would like. Punt from non league - 32 goals from 37 games last season. Would fit the plan more than a loan.
As an extra striker either would be fine, as a replacement for our top scorer and talisman that would be pretty depressing.

The majority of people had no problem with Jojo going on a free because apparently he wasn't very good, so shouldn't have a problem with Ward going for a fee.

We were lucky last season as we had 2 pretty decent keepers after a few years of shite. Wollacott was always going to leave to further his career at international level. Ward is under contract and you can't blame him for wanting out to get 1st team football at his age, something he probably thought he had in the bag when Jojo left. Ward is a decent keeper but for me Brynn is better all round and unlikely to be deposed as 1st choice unless he gets an injury meaning Ward is left with JPT games to impress. Ward has had 1 great game at FGR, a few solid games and a few where he looked shakey, the going rate for a L2 keeper. Decent back up and probably good enough for a L2 1st choice but he would be backup if he went into L1 at best. If we can replace him with a decent younger keeper for cheap then I have no problem letting him go if the price is right. If he wants to go then don't keep an unhappy player.

Oh I agree there, but if we sign a player on loan then it would be pointless if we didnt start him as it takes up a loan slot. Rather we play a smallish fee for Rutherford unless we sign a very very promising loan striker from higher than L1.

Rutherford sounds like he’d be worth the gamble anyway, regardless of what Harry does…

Just signed a new 2 and 1/2 year contract with Dorking so would cost a few quid.

So, that would be the end for McGurty. No on field farewell and a wave to the fans.
Just a 3 match ban and off you go.
It was always going to end this way

Alfie Rutherford looks a good prospect, kendall I saw play once and wasn't impressed too much.
Rutherford scored 32 in 37 in the National South 2 years ago then 16 in 38 in the National League last season, still only 24. Scorted 1 in 4 this season and that was against Oldham.
7:38 in a good header, hes a fairly big unit at 6 foot 1 and good in the air.
I would prefer a more experienced striker though.
But this isn't how moneyball works... The point of Moneyball is you take players on the cheap that nobody else would consider because they AREN'T scoring goals but the data indicates that there style of play isn't suited to the current teams set up (i.e. a player who like balls to their feet playing in a team that plays hoofball) - put them in the right set up and they will score goals and cost you literally nothing... take McKirdy as a prime example - he's a manager's worst nightmare, a moany little cunt who gets booked and banned for stupid reasons and likes certain style of play but for years he did fuck all so a manager is happy to sell him cheap or release him... we pick him up, put our arm round him, put him in the right set up and he scores goals for fun... McKirdy needs a good set up around him and I doubt he'll get that from 90% of the teams in the EFL - he also needs players that will put up with his petulant reactions when they don't pass the ball to him.. If he goes then he will descend into mediocracy Moneyball is all about ignoring the obvious stat's and looking at the ones that everyone else ignores... looking at data over 2-3 seasons, not just one game or a purple patch - and aligning that with how you want your own team to play and filling gaps.

If we end up getting money for Lewis ward it will be the heist of the century. Incredibly overated backup goalkeeper

Agree about Ward ... a second string keeper but other than that he is surely a liability.
