Sorry, JJ. I was trying to be a bit cute regarding his name not the player per se!

Surely you judge a Manager by his success?
Not bad a League Two Title and a JPT Trophy.

Can only comment in what I watch and the League Two campaign and Football was terrific.
Notwithstanding with what was going on behind the scenes.

Wellens is a decent Manager and Coach and professional footballers have also commented regarding this. Hearing really favourable comments from the players regarding the current set up which is really great to hear after the utter shambles from last season.
I think we can all agree that Sheridactyl was fucking useless at every level.
While i agree you do also have to take into consideration the failures. The trophy and titles both come with slight caveats as well don't they let's be honest

A JPT title for a final from the season before he arrived at the club. Now that is clutching at straws.

The only luck Wellens had with us was the players with a dodgy injury history managed to hold up pretty well.

You could argue winning the league in a way that has never been done before was lucky too

The suggestion is that he got lucky with his squad when we went up, so to point out that he won a L2 trophy during the season in question is missing the point a bit.

But how was he lucky with his squad? He recruited them, gambled on some and it paid off. Took a chance, yes. Lucky, no.

But how was he lucky with his squad?

Because all the right pieces just happened to fall into place?

It'd be harder to say it was luck if he was replicating it elsewhere but he's not. And it seems as though he can't 'get by' with what he has like so many other managers can and needs a squad exactly to his liking otherwise he struggles to even get to mid-table. He's clearly very good at getting the perfect team to play well, and full credit to him for that, but managers tend not to be blessed with the perfect team.

Oldham relegated
Swindon relegated
Salford sacked
Doncaster 1 point from 12 currently.

As if you’re giving him that JPT win....

Doyle having the purplest of purple patches - the likes of he has never had before and will never have again helped. No one predicted he’d go on a run like that.

Youngsters in on loan are often a gamble. Yates and Benda came good, very good. The loan players the following season did not. Especially the keeper.

Swindon relegated was fuck all to do with Wellens. He knew what was coming down the track and bailed - clever guy.

Behave.

He put the majority of that squad together. Not solely is fault for sure but he isn’t blameless, far from it.
It was also Wellens who sent Twine out on loan too.

And who was it that dismantled that squad. Getting rid of the 2 Smiths, DJ, refusing to play Grant. Bringing in shite replacements and abusing them all.

Who presided over the worst football seen at the CG - ever?

I still can’t see how you can berate a manager who won the league playing brilliant football, recruiting well and getting Doyle to score at will. All that had nothing to do with Wellens?

Nobody is lucky over 40 games or so.

That's someone else's suggestion, I am suggesting based on Banburys post that that he is quite fortunate to have that on his CV. It was a great season but i do think like i said earlier you need to question his management at times

We were doing shite before Wellens left.
