Agreed, hence my point on Kovar - there is something to work with, but he's not a good fit for us. Better to take him back to the training ground and work on his technical skills I think. Stevens, I stand by that one, there is nothing there that should be there bar pace and that won't make a career over time. Very few survive long enough when it's just that.
Again, I'm not sure you can tell for sure with a young player. There were reasons he is so highly rated at a big club, and he never got a run (no pun intended) in the team. He looked good and scored a great goal in pre-season, but poor confidence / coaching / training facilities / accommodation etc may all have had an effect. Ask Northampton fans about Sam Parkin.

Surprised to see a few comments here today regarding these youngsters who have been thrown into an absolute dog shit squad. Technical players bought in by Wellens being played at in every position but there actual prefered positions at time. I would bet that Stevens will go on to have a good career elsewhere along with J Smith. Kovar not so much unless he was, in fact, a striker and has also been played out of position

Got to agree with Shrivvy here. You can tell we are having a very poor season as there are a lot of grumpy posters at the moment with more scaving criticism than usual about young players chucked into a bucket of shit. All of our loan players will have a career in the game in my opinion, even Kovar, maybe not any higher than the lower 2 leagues, but everyone of them has showed that they have something at young ages IMO - sometimes it's just the club and timing that has to be right for a player - STFC can't be a promising prospect for any young player at the moment (along with many other clubs during a pandemic) - M Smith being the exception this season it seems.

Possibly so mate but rightly or wrongly I just do not see any footballing quality in Stevens, he may turn out to be a decent player but I have seen every minute of every game he has played and he has not impressed me at all. J Smith, M Smith, T Smith have all shown they have some useful qualities football wise not just athletic ability and even to an extent Kovar has shown he may progress into a competant keeper just not at the moment. I am sure Leeds must have seen something in him but for me I don't see it, we will have to agree to disagree. Jonny Smith looks like an athletic footballer learning the ropes in the lower leagues but with a good level of quality but Jordan Stevens looks like an athlete trying to be turned into a footballer, much like Tyler Reid was and he has found his level at Woking where he can't get a game. Surely if he is a decent then playing in an inept team he should shine as Matt Smith has done.

In his defence he was played at RB under Wellens and left wing. He then had the misfortune of playing part of a midfield 3 when bought on by Sheridan. Matt Smith was played out of position last week wide left of a 3 and ironically had his worst game so far for us. I think we have a duty to some of these kids and i am sure that Leeds are not happy we have played him every where but his actual position Like you say though it is all opinions, he will no doubt be at Highworth next year now i said that

Utd will be delighted with Kovar's progress. He's come on massively. Another loan move for the second half of the season, ideally at a top League 2 club, would be ideal for his progression.

If I am right, Kovar goes back moves us back to 5 loans, when the new keeper signs put us up to 6 loans with only 5 allowed in a matchday squad ?
I'd be surprised if we don't see movement with some of the loans returning to their clubs though, none of them would be a great loss sadly

I say season in and season out that people should not judge players overall on a certain spell with us (or any other club). I've even seen people say Doughty was shit in the past when he was going through a 'poor' spell. Does my fucking nut in.
But Stevens is like Alan O'Brien. That doesn't mean he won't improve or fit in better elsewhere but he does seem to be all pace and little else.

He has been played in many positions definately and probably only 3/4 have been wide right, he looked totally lost as a wingback/RB when he was tried there and totally lost on the left wing and in centre midfield but he came to us having played for FGR in centre midfield and Leeds said he could play there as well, he can't. He does need to knuckle down and specialise in being a right winger, I am sure Leeds will sort him out, it hasn't helped being classed as versatile but it also hasn't helped him playing for 2 managers in 3 months or so. he is young and of course he can improve but he needs to do it at a club where not so much is riding on him, like Bradford or Salford in a lower league. He seems to have been ill a lot too, not injured but ill, which is unusual. Much like Kovar, being at Swindon may well have been the wrong loan move, in hindsight.

Until the Bournemouth keeper signs surely we’ve only got the 3 Smiths on loan.

M Smith, J Smith, T Smith, Kovar and Stevens, now add the Brentford lad and the Muff keeper.

Stevens not official yet but the Adver report that Lids have cut the loan short but the club have not confirmed this yet. Leaves Travers, Thompson, M Smith, T Smith and J Smith as loanees.
