I’d have no problem with Day as keeper. 200 games for Newport, in PFA Team of the Year 2019. I can accept if he has the odd bad game but surely that’s better than every single fucking game with the 2 present clowns at the moment.

To be fair you can't argue with 200 games but is he ready for league one

Hiwula was one linked in the summer. He is another wide forward, perhaps better than what we have. I would love a big lump of a striker to join from somewhere.

A left back is close - again according to Nixon. Wimbledon also after Day.

The same way everyone else does  Wink

In my own defense, I only used figures quoted from several football salary sites. Never claimed to know them out right. Other's put the initial figure there (maybe they used similar sites).

One thing we all know is that football salaries certainly aren't graded really and the total amount is usually far away from the base amount. I know as much in the accuracy of footballer salaries as you do, and we'll only know the ones more so that of course are highly publicised.

Day would certainly fit quite well here. Is a decent keeper. I think in some respects when Cardiff signed him from Old Quay, he was at the kind of form that both King (last season) and Townshend (this season) were/are at in L2 currently.

Certainly fits the surplus to requirement and experienced 3rd keeper that was suggested a few days ago.

Hiwula I'm not sure we would get, unless we have bids for DJ.... Sad

The big lump, I do say that someone like Chris Martin (footballer) would relish our current "style". Trying to think of some 30 plus Champ players not getting a look in currently and itching for game time. Again the only stumbling block might be wages.

Good news on the LB front, if they're about 80% of Donohue then that's fine.

I also see Paul Mullet has been scoring and assisting for fun at Cam Bridge. A player many always said was unfortunate as he seemed like a player from an earlier era. Maybe he would fit at Town at present. 10/10 for effort on his part and might be a "vocal" one (basically TW&JS like gobshites) for the dressing room. Would be a fee and his contract expires EoS. We paid money for him before but this might be the only chance for Cambridge to capitalise in a cash strapped season. Didn't realise he's only 26.

Already had a loan spell at Wimbledon and I imagine that

1) They are a more attractive proposition than us. New stadium, well respected club, not a complete shambles
2) I doubt we can compete financially with anyone in this league

Rule out Day I think, if Wimbledon are serious.

I was trying to be positive. When I heard Town had 10 deals in progress I genuinely first thought "and most of them will fall through"

It's so tough when a team is in a relegation battle because it's so hard to convince players to come and fight for the cause. As a player (and manager) no one wants a relegation on their CV unless they happen to be under contract at the time. Even if you go to a club and they stay up, it's hardly an honours or achievement viewed amongst peers. Even worse, you help keep a club up then they bin you off as the club looks to build on it.

Moving to a relegation threatened club can be a very thankless task for many reasons. It's honourable (unless the club is throwing cash around) but that's about it.

Further though on Day...he worked with El Shez at Newport. If he comes or not it might come down to what his relationship or memory of working with his former boss was like...

So, so many impondérables  Hmmm
