Was Ajose the last player - not youth - who we sold for money? We’ve got a poor record for generating funds this way lately.
Luke Norris cost Colchester about £100k apparently.

Yeah its been slow. I think thats a league problem though. Players from League one can go for good money, see Toney, but not sure it happens from league two really. Mainly as the buying team is not often more than 1 league above you (outside of youngsters) and not many league one clubs have the money to spend.

That has been my disappointment so far. We have not invested in any assets yet this season. Sure covid will have hit the club and probably Power so its understandable. DJ is maybe our only asset (not based on last 2 performances).

Consider we spent what was thought to be as much as six figures for Doyle, for hopefully 3 months that was more like 1.5 because of the curtailed season.

Wait and see what happens over the coming weeks. Please dear god we need a CB before Sat if Baudry/Fryers and Conroy are all unavailable. I like Odimayo but he needs a strong player next to him and Curran is just awful.

Reported as a fee between £100k and £150k!

I know I was shocked too!

I’d say, almost certainly, DJ is seen as a future valuable asset.

Exeter flogged Hawkins to Brentford for £1.8m and will soon be dreaming double that from their sell on when he goes to Villa.

The other reason why Wellens has gone nuclear is if there is any kind of ownership changes in the offing.

The only other thing i would say is that Wellens wanted players in earlier, as the fans do, as every logical person does, but it has rarely happened for us at any point.

Look at the bench for the team that played Scunthorpe last season on opening day. We needed more players. I know Wellens is now saying he was happy with what he had, but last season would have been very different if Doyle and Grant has not come in. Not to mention all the emergency cover with Donohue, Zakuani and later loans like REG.

Transfer window closes in over a month, which itself is a joke, but if we haven't done business yet then it will get done at that point.

I think the problem is this time the players we have in place, and more importantly the injuries we are already carrying, don't give Wellens an eleven that he is happy to play the first 5-6 games of the season with.

I have always been surprised that we haven't followed the Peterborough model of buying in young talent, developing and then selling on for a profit. We kind of started it when Power first arrived and then it stopped, however perhaps that was because we went through a period of pretty poor investments such as Vigs and then got relegated.

If he wants 4, he’s going to have to sign 3 on perms. Striker will cost the most, therefore, I reckon our final loan will be a striker.

I have been wrong before, like.

Or why we have never tapped up the Irish league for new players. With Waterford links, you would think Power and Co would have the league extremely well scouted.

We did, and he was crap

My bad, that was the Northern Irish league. The yellow lot seem to be scouting that one well

Maybe we have and there wasn't anyone that would improve us?

Haven’t we got someone who was on loan to Waterford last season?

Odimayo perhaps
