For me, Pitman is one of those players whose name always seems to appear on Final Score/Soccer Saturday/Ceefax. Seems very strange that Kenny Jackett froze him out essentially. I think he'll regret allowing the contract of his best striker to run down and we'll see "Goal: Pitman, Swindon Town" several times.
There are mirroring thoughts here with James Norwood too. A striker seemingly climbing his way through the divisions, patiently so, to then have "meh" style comments about him from his manager (Lambert). As much to say, I think he'll be here but I'm not fussed if he isn't. Also saying he needs to prove to him that he is as good as when he was at Tranmere...
He played most of his career in the conference and then L2 only a year ago, and this previous season has been fairly unique. Yet JN still managed about 11/12 goals despite also having a season ending injury in Feb. He probably would've got near to 20 had the season continued. In fact, I did the math(s); Norwood on the 11 in 28 form continuing would have ended the campaign on 18.07. So the comments from Lambert seem pretty off considering JN's first full season (not even that) playing at L1. I think Norwood will be off too; to another club. I would love it, absolutely love it if he rolled up here.
